I don't agree; for most computing tasks, the result of every computation produced by each node is used. In Bitcoin, only the "winner" for each particular block gets their computation result used, everyone else literally throws their results away.

Which repo marked as GPLv2 has been used on Copilot? I think the trouble is that some repos marked as MIT/BSD actually contain GPL code.

I'd say this is the case. Individuals might work around the limit, but companies will be persuaded to pay even if most meetings are under 1h.

Meet has been the most popular tool in the companies I've worked for (in the Benelux and Portugal), followed by Webex. Never met anyone using Teams. That said, I've mostly worked for small-to-medium companies.

But software built from source copied using Copilot is not guaranteed to preserve those freedoms to its users. Which is the whole point of the GPL - preserving these freedoms to subsequent users, as a chain.

The argument is whether copyright should exist at all, not if it should be shortened. They are very, very different discussions.

In fact, that seems to be exactly the problem shown in the tweet - someone copy-pasted the quake source and slapped a different license on it, and copilot blindly trusted the new license.

I think the problem in Portugal is the opposite; the authoritarian regime was taken down in '74, but entirely too many people still have that mindset, even if they disagree on who should be the authority.

Doesn't apply to law enforcement, but it does to government generally. In fact, one of the biggest fines yet in Portugal was paid by a public hospital.
