The British Columbia Lottery Corporation had a similar incentive ($100 in credit) set up to promote their online gambling site. The trick involved betting on both sides of baccarat, which was better than roulette as it avoided the chance of the 0/00 outliers.

I had two old computers that would play the first 2.5 notes of Fur Elise every time they were power cycled, before the fan was completely spun up. I only figured out what it was after holding the fan one day and recognising the tune.

From what I understand, iPhones aren't really bought to be used as everyday phones and an iPhone owner will probably have a second, Japanese phone as well. If someone has one it's because it is a cool, western thing to have (basically just a gadget) plus they can be used on trips to the US and elsewhere.
They basically need a GAVIA[1] system with an extra couple of battery modules and one of the dvl/ins modules to allow for long travel distances with less accumulated error. ... and have a build server do this automatically & email the results. Manually building for each platform if there are more than two seems like quite a hassle and you know programmers will skip over it for minor changes.

Subjectively agree with 1. I find that each result doesn't seem separate enough, as if it was just a bunch of text and not individual results.
Subjectively and strongly disagree with 2. I love being able to just scroll down to the second page of results, it saves a few clicks and lets me scroll quickly through a bunch of results so I can quickly gauge the quality of the search terms.
Forget about taking notes in class with a laptop.
For some EE classes there is absolutely no way you are going to be able to take notes with all of the integrals, subscripts, superscripts, greek letters and strange symbols (but don't let that all scare you). The best way to get this all down is to write it down on paper, but I have seen some students do decently with a tablet computer (the kind that have a rotating/folding screen).
The other problem with a laptop (as another poster has mentioned, but I just wanted to emphasize) is that you will end up distracted. All it takes is for the lecture to slow down or someone to ask a silly question and the next thing you know is that the lecture is over and you're in the middle of some article about the next Apple product.
Base your decision on what you will be using your computer for outside of class: programming, maths simulation, circuit simulation, and lab reports. All of those can be done from within a Windows VM.

For the article, Evan's credit card statements were provided to everyone by Wired as part of the game. It was done to provide everyone with with what the government or well-connected individuals could easily access (either through the courts or other means).
Perhaps. Prison inmates who receive plastic surgery are less likely to get charged with new crimes. Of course, maybe they also don't get charged as often in much the same way as better looking people don't get convicted as often.
Shouldn't SSL be part of the basic package? Having to pay for it seems a bit off, especially for something high in personal data, like invoicing.
