Typical data capture and analytics isn't like Prism. Seriously, you overestimate your own importance. Facebook doesn't care what you individually do, it's all about collecting statistics about everyone so they can better reach the groups you're a part of.
It's much easier to redact something than take responsibility for it.
It seems like there's an opportunity for someone to package technology for this audience in an easy-to-use way. I forget were, although I saw it somewhere, that someone packaged an ipad, a sqaure, and a receipt printer together as a bundle, I think that may work here as well.
This is one of the coolest things I have seen. I hope that this is the direction that user interfaces goes in down the road, it is much more exciting than 2D.

What qualifies as "big data" though? Is it a terabyte? A petabyte? Or is it just a buzzword?
My thoughts exactly. How many lives would this save? I think on the order of several thousand a year, minimum.
I for one do not trust facebook with any of my data. From a professional standpoint though, it opens up some interesting avenues for microtargeting in advertising.
Someone has to handle it.
I can't imagine carrying a 7" device in my pocket. Will cargo pants finally become practical?
I think "high bandwidth" is a good way to describe it.
One could view the outsourcing of jobs overseas as upgrading processes as well, if you view the process as a black box where orders go in and product goes out.
