Instead of FAT32, use the flash drive mapping. Flash drive contain mapping from sectors to blocks. This is used to deal with flash erasure, wear leveling, and failures. Custom firmware could map the real filesystem to bad blocks.

Does the forensic software read the whole physical flash drive or just the logical one? They might if they want to get deleted files. Can they detect that there are lots of failures?

Nobody can agree how big UBI should be, and people talk past each other. Small UBI, like poverty level, could replace welfare but wouldn't be enough to survive on without doing something about housing and healthcare. Big UBI would be enough for good life, like median income, but not affordable with current economy and create inflation.

There is something in between that would be enough to survive, with small UBI, universal healthcare, and guaranteed housing.

Company scrip was company currency and employees were required to be paid in it and could only be used in company stores. Employee stock is getting some of your pay, voluntarily, in stock which can be sold in market. As long as company doesn't own housing or run grocery store, it isn't scrip.

USB-C is a connector. Part of the confusion is that USB specification versions have come to be associated with the protocols and speeds defined there. The basic division is between USB2 and USB3 which are separate protocols on different wires. USB-C has multiple high speed lanes.

USB 3.0 defined the SuperSpeed protocol and 5GBps speed. Later versions increased speeds, 10GBps (USB3.1), 20GBps (USB3.2). These were also called Gen1, Gen2, or now just the speeds.

Then, there are alternate modes which run other protocols over high speed lanes. DisplayPort is the most common one.

Next, USB4 defined USB4 protocol which multiplexes SuperSpeed and DisplayPort over two high speed lanes. USB4 requires USB-C. This is basically Thunderbolt standardized. Specification also defines 20Gbps, 40Gbps, and 80Gbps speeds.

Relativistic starships are impossible because they require impossible amounts of fuel. "If you can create a ship that is capable of 1g acceleration" is doing a lot of heavy lifting. The rocket equation means you need to take along exponentially increasing amounts of fuel

Even antimatter rockets top out at 50% of light speed. Laser boost like with Dyson Swarm could get similar speeds because time dilation slows down the acceleration.

USB-C uses resistors to signal the power level for 5V. There is 5.1k for USB legacy, and I forget for 7.5W and 15W. Lots of cheap devices leave out the 5.1k resistors and depend on the same resistors in the USB-C to USB-A cable.

It is perfectly fine for USB-C device to signal USB Legacy since every charger needs to support it for microUSB to USB-C cables. The other way is for device to dynamically negotiate power level with the charger, but this is different than USB PD for higher voltage.

One reason is that Lightning couldn't do the faster speeds or extra modes like USB-C. There were USB3 and display adapters but they were sort of hacks. USB-C was used for MacBooks and iPad Pros. USB-C allows passive adapters to USB2 and USB3.

More used keys like enter, backspace, arrow keys, and number pad are under the dominant hand. It isn't a big deal since most people are ambidextrous with keyboards. But there are left-handed keyboards.

The other annoyance is that default mappings for games are for left hand, right mouse. Either have to remap everything or play right-handed like I do.

Spacetime isn't quantized as far as we know. We don't know since we don't have quantum gravity or ability to probe Planck scale. Quantum fields are continuous, it is excitations in the field, particles, that are quantized.

I think we need to accept that calendars and clocks are different. Calendars are based on years and days of planets, planets are different, and they don't divide evenly. Clocks are measured in seconds, the SI seconds are basis of units.

One solution is local seconds and SI seconds. Another is use metric seconds for stopwatches and local minutes for scheduling, and accept there is uneven number of seconds in minute.

Pro: Database is perfectly secure.

Con: The database no longer exists.

Also, there is more to security than memory errors. SQL injection, authentication, and access rules matter. It doesn’t matter if Rust database is secure to bad data if it lets anyone in to do anything. Or if it is crashing all the time or corrupting your data.

The solution is to always add a second name. Like people, projects could have short name and full names. Could be organization (Apache Spark), could use type (Oak Versioncontrol), could be longer name (Violet Spring). Then can use short name internally, and full name globally. I like the type name cause tells what it is.

It is a weird argument because we totally could build a Great Pyramid replica. Ships and trains hauling stone and tower cranes plopping them into place. We are really good at moving things and lifting them. It would probably be the quarries that be the bottleneck.

If wanted it in concrete, would be faster. Or could do it in steel or steel/concrete with some interior space (Luxor in Las Vegas is size of smaller pyramid).

Those are called trigger boards. I haven't found one with buck converter to make 12V. 12V is in earlier PD standard so lots of chargers support it but you have to check each charger and lots don't say. The guaranteed solution is PPS chargers that have variable voltage.

I think you are confusing the devices with USB-C that require USB-A, and devices that charge the standard USB-C 5V/3A/15W. The USB-A ones cheaped out in including the resistors that signal legacy USB mode, they work with the ones in the cable or adapter.

Lots of people assume that USB-C always uses USB-PD, but the basic signalling is done with resistors. Lots of devices only need 15W, and it is better than USB-A charging. If you want faster charging, buy more powerful chargers.

What are you wanting to use it for? There is using Pi as desktop, which was only option for a while, but now mini PCs are much better. There is using it as server, where mini PCs are better for homelabs and multiple services but Pi is good for lightweight single service. Then there is hobbyist use, where Pi is cheap when get lightweight one and has ecosystem of hardware and software.

This is similar to scam where people are sent messages about bad transaction with a fake link to the bank to verify it. Some attackers have gotten Paypal to send notifications that have the link. People are supposed to check the source and go directly to bank, and this will bypass that.

I have decided that the Pi4 1GB is the ideal for hobbyists. Faster than Pi3, takes normal USB-C charging, and can do most single server or electronics jobs. Which is why it is currently sold out.
