My quick glace at it agrees with you, it looks like it replaces the URLs of the images, presumably to load compressed versions.

I'm part of a startup that is all written in ASP.Net MVC and we all really like it. The costs of the licenses were our only initial concern about using it, as they are a bit prohibitive, but it can always be hosted on something like Azure. All our back end systems are written in C# as well. For us, things like the excellent debugging features in VS.Net and the fact that there was a lot more experience with Windows and SQL Server in our team, we decided to keep to our strengths, so as to get going as quickly as possible.

Both sites (http://seoshop.biz/ and http://plussem.com/) use Google Analytics. So Google could feasibly track who makes a purchase. If you make purchase on those sites and you've recently logged into your Google Webmaster tools or something and then get a load of +1's Google could surely fairly easily see that.

Doesn't seem like front page news. Use key based auth and disable root login. You can also get an ssh client on your iphone if you don't mind keeping your private keys on it, just make sure to use a long password and be prepared to change all your server keys if you lose your phone. I also ban every IP that even tries to login as root.

I'm happy they've finally launched the US version. I've been a subscriber since it launched and had a lot of love for it since. I'm curious to how it compares with the other services users get stateside and looking forward to reading some American reviews..

I emailed a major technology retailer about this when they sent me my password in plaintext. This is the response I got (I pointed out that she made my point for me, but I didn't get another reply)...

The only way that people can get your password is to hack into our system or your emails. It has to be sent in plain text for you to know what your password is.

yeah, they've become really bad. i loved the service but moved to spideroak last week when i read that anyone could access my files with any password, while they fixed a bug. that along with the privacy/encryption stuff convinced me to move. wuala seems to be the most secure service i've seen though.

For this reason, I think I'm jumping ship now and moving to Spideroak or Wuala.

Name and DoB of everyone in a household alone can make it much easier for someone to pose as you to say a credit card company.

What pissed me off was that it is a legal requirement to complete the census (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_Census_2011#Oper...), so everyones personal details are in the database, which if stollen is a identify thief's dream load.
