One major reason for people to rely on FB is every post carry some weight like author/friend who shared it/likes/comments

RSS is a great alternative but definitely won't make a dent in FB

Penetration of Signal in real world is way too different from what it "feels" here on HN

But we should also remember most of the popular apps right now started with small bubble.

People like HN readers and techies is what going to influence non-tech people in long run.

I wish we have the same for Android apps as well. I don't want random Apps to have full access to my storage instead it can have it's own space.

Not sure what VSCode will become in future but for now VSCode is amazing for JS projects, quick browse & edits on adhoc files

But IntelliJ, GoLand, PyCharm etc.. is way more convenient for significant changes in code base.

And the data grip plugin provided by Jetbrains for Postgres / MySQL is light years ahead of any other DB GUI I came across.

Recently my respect to apple is growing more and more because of issues like this. Apple is always criticised for lack of innovations compared to its competitors but their attention to smaller details and ensuring their products just "work" proved to be more valuable to customers than dozens of broken features.

Edit: Of course there are some exceptions like apple maps
