Voting with your wallet is very short sighted. Some examples:

A manager replaces free coffee in the office with a paid vending machine to save expenses. Moral goes down. Production goes down.

A team member is fired because she has the worst production level of the team. What they did not know is that this team member was holding the team together.

So there are a lot of side effects to every decision. And therefore I think voting with your wallet is a bad idea.

Lately I'm very concerned about my posture. Now I'm watching two people who both have a bad posture like me (hunchback, forward head). And I'm sure this is becoming a problem in the 'read from a screen all day' age.

So the future of better interfaces (with your brain) Elon is talking about might be also much better for our health.

As far as I know Ubuntu and Windows are already doing this. But as you said without much luck.

I also think this is the future. But not only for the switch to desktop. Also as car console, key store, tv remote, synthesizer (just put it in a midi device) and so on.

You personal key to everything. And your single attack vector...

Is there a way to download Angular2 as Javascript file? Last time I checked I had to install loads of software just to start a Angular project.

"I am frustrated by the industry as a whole"

Unfortunately I have to agree as a developer. My job is to make a fast, reliable, stable product but at the same time I'm questioned the tools I use by people who don't have any knowledge but heard the latest trend.

But sometimes it's also very easy to please people. Big data: just insert 10M records in a database and suddenly everyone is happy because they now have big data :|

Good listeners are also well rested.

I'm a good listener, but not at the moment. After long days of programming and some lack of sleep I notice that my listening is going down. I really dislike this because I think now I'm faking to be a good listener.

As for a lot of things: rest and sleep is important.

"that's a very modern idea of a job"

I don't agree. A vizier [1] is very related to an accountant. For example: Joseph (book of Genesis) became a vizier and had to account for the supplies in storehouses. Maybe he didn't do the accounting himself, but I'm sure they had a way to write down what was in stock and what not. They also traded with surrounding countries that were out of stock, so I'm sure this was bigger than the work of a small businessman.

Some years ago PHP scripts would crash (without log) if the script file was exactly 1024 bytes. After days of blaming our own code we found out about this bug. No unit test would have figured that one out.

I think it's sad that everybody is already jumping into conclusions. The same happened with the missing flight MS804. Everybody was shouting 'IS attack' but we still don't know.

This is dangerous because it troubles our thinking.

Gimp 2.9.4 Released 10 years ago

Note this is a developer edition.

I just went to the download page to find out this is not a stable version.

But, as the page says: "GIMP 2.9.4 is quite reliable for production work, but there are still loose ends to tie"

Can you point out some similarities?

I'm looking at the paintings of Peter Doig but I have a hard time finding something that looks like the painting of Peter Edward Doige. The strokes, technique, use of color. They are all different.
