you need to be clear on what you want the LLM to do break down the tasks and give byte sized tasks to llm to do specific thing and sometimes I had to tell it not go and change random files because it found the need to refactor them.

I use split keyboards and finding a mechanical split keyboard without the ortho linear configuration seem to be hard. I just want a mechanical split keyboard with hot swappable keys with staggered (normal) keyboard.

We do have facility for DND with Deparatment of Telecom but seems to come up short as mine is in DND but receive several messages and calls through out the day.

I would also recommend CodeChecker (static analysis tool - open source) or if you end up having to use gcc use gcc's -fanalyzer option for static analysis.

I find that gcc is a version or two behind clang for new compiler diagnostics and static analysis features (purely anecdotal so please take it with pinch of salt).

Debian at home. Ubuntu at work(hoping to switch to Debian soon). Both of them are headless (so not as Desktop Environment but ssh to for development work).

ditto for me, the font rendering for kitty and alacritty (I tried various fonts + knobs macos_thicken_font, text_composition_stratgegy ...) and they just don't appear as crisp as fonts in iterm2 on macos

Joplin for work/learning related stuff (organized by topic). For any topic that I work on, I create a page with links, notes, snippets of code …etc.

+1 for Joplin, I use it for logging my work day. I dump the information in JIRA task I work on and have highlights and other related notes in Joplin, although I wish Joplin has a native support for calendar (similar to https://zim-wiki.org).

Vi (or emacs) have steep learning curve with immense benefits for rest of a programmer/editor life.

I recently started using Zim Desktop Wiki (http://zim-wiki.org) for the sole reason being that it saves them in text files and the obvious advantages that come with it (sync, no lock-in) etc. I use them across mac, windows, and linux machines. I couldn't find an iPhone app.

A society should progress and then its shortcomings have a way of solving themselves. Not a zerosum game.

Eventually you would meet people and discuss technical stuff and unofficial mentor/mentee relationships may develop. Most places won't have an assigned mentor. Your boss (if he/she is technical) may become a mentor but it doesn't always happen.

Coffee/Break room chats and other social gatherings would help in building rapport with other devs and eventually you would be learning from each other. Unless the place you work is extremely toxic, I would say just give it time. My 2c.

1. I have a synology which acts as central store for everything. 2. Everything on synology (except for videos) gets backed up to crashplan. 3. Once every few months I backup synology to my 5TB external drive.

I hate to loose any file even if its not important :) I still have files from the floppy disk era.

fastmail - Been using their service for couple of years. Here is how I migrated from yahoo and gmail.

1. Bought fastmail service and a personal domain. 2. Import yahoo and gmail email (they warn you to use it as onetime service and not as backup). 3. Autoforward all my gmail and yahoo to my fastmail. 4. As you get emails, you can make decision of unsubscribing/changing email addresses of various services.
