And got electricity price hike last year, and now few weeks ago again, from ~25c kwh, to around 35c kwh! They say its reliance on fossil fuels. Not just that, think Ireland has one of the most expensive broadbands in the EU!

How do i use it from opencode/openrouter?!
I don't get it, I have server for 5 years, its old hardware, nothing changed, why would they increase it?
Master is carved (cutted), and then reverse master pressed, from which all the records are then pressed, if i remember correctly.
404 Page not found when clicking on their link https://claude.ai/design at the end of the article! Vibe coding to prod, gone wrong?
UI of Windows is buggy and inconsistent. Kernel and low level stuff are actually very stable and good.
How come your business or research are so tied to GCP? What about other providers?
My booking.com latest experience: booked big appartment for 4 people. Arrived to destination (Bristol, UK), and apartment already had guests inside. Tried contacting landlord, no reply. Called booking com, they offered acommodation 30km from the city centre, and its already 11pm, no way to get there. Had to pay our own hotels, and we never got money paid to booking. One neighbor of that apartment said they often double book! Seems booking com doesn't care.
What did we do wrong when simple chat app requires hundrets of megabytes of memory, or even gigabytes! Sure, its not just plain text but images and videos, but still...
Opened samples - bunch of Json config files. Closed Samples. Do they really expect devs to write Json to configure worksflows and tasks!? Even Workflow Foundation had more c# I think...
Aaaah says no angle sensor detected on my MB Air M1 :( This is it i am buying new model
Can't remember how many times I added this to AUTEXEC.BAT
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T6
good times.
AI is great, I can see it benefit so many industries, except music. There's something profoundly wrong with AI generated music.
Less LOC than React/Redux app... Makes you think, what were we doing last 30 years :/
Netflix is "4K Ultra HD: Up to 7 GB per hour". Blu ray is 25GB per side, so max 50GB for 2 layers. Typical movies are 35-50GB. So, BR, and think even DVD still looks much better than any streaming service!
Reminds me to friends old but brilliant project, use Unicode to draw art on stack trace logs! Enough with boring stack traces in logs, lets make some art there and make life a bit easier for the poor soul thats on support and has to debug latest prod issue. https://medium.com/@ironcev/stack-trace-art-4b700a8817ea
I read the book.
After the part where she was giving a birth to her child, while still writing emails and doing work stuff, I take everything she said with a grain of salt. As a father, the way she prioritised work to family through out many years of her work at FB, I find it very repelling and disgusting.
I believe that Zuck&team are slimy greedy spoiled brats, but I could also say few things about her. Which make me wonder what is actual truth, book is very biased.
Same experience when i had to switch to Slack. Confusing and weird. Its what you get used to. Teams was very slow and buggy before, but in the last 1-2y its actually stable and fast.
Ah, good ol' days of configuring AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS to squeeze few more kb of RAM:) And setting IRQs for some weird sound card that just doesn't work!
I was using Raven around ver 1-3. Even it was single node and simple app, we observed stale reads and lost writes so had to eventually migrate to SQL Server. It was really weird reading claims from Oren (expert in .NET space, famous from his great work on Nhibernate and few other frameworks), where his db didn't work as advertised at all (back then build with Esent key/value store + full text search for map/reduce, think it was lucene.net - obviously very broken tech for this purpose). Too bad, was really hoped things were fixed by now, Db has really good programming APIs.
Interesting trivia: there's "raven db done right" - https://martendb.io/ , just an API wrapper around PSQL. Named Marten because thats a natural enemy of ravens:)
They did this in '60. Me today, 70 years later: undefined is not a function. We failed with computers...
My experience also. As a backend engineer trying to create a front end app, the whole toolchain of JS, bundlers, minifiers, Typescript, React... is basically; works if you have one magical init script that wires up everything, and much more than you really need since its tailored for more complex apps, but if you need just simplest thing, like run Typescript app in browser, well, good luck with that! Hundreds of tutorials (unofficial blog posts) on internents, none of them work. Front end dev work is broken.
Also, funny experience: asked few senior FE devs how to configure React, webpack and TS manually, absolutely nobody could do it.
Any way of returning tabs back instead of this new awful awful buttons for tabs!?
Apple has to be behind all this, since he is so loud about their repair policy and fixing iphones instead of sending people to buy a new one :) !
Jesus what a colossal waste of time
Artists-owned streaming company so musicians gets bigger share of the cake. That didn't last long. Was ever Tidal the best for the artisys!?
Qobuz should be best for Classical and Jazz ... I have Tidal on the droid and never had any glitches.
Maybe in next 20 they will fix scaling issues when using screens with different DPI settings
Please, please, please move your speakers away from the wall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UA-VctzuFo
First thing about most HIFI speakers is that they have to be at least 0.5m from the back wall. Otherwise you lose sound stage depth and get bloated bass. Its such a shame to see people giving 5-10k$ on pair of really good speakers and putting them 20-30cm from the wall (i see that ALL the time on various FB groups). I have mine floorstanders around 1.2m away, where they sound the best. Is always a compromise between room and speakers placement.
