Though it’s obvious, nice write up. This is the kinda rabbit hole I enjoy going through and reading.

Are you running self hosted Postgres to run pg_lake?
Also, I am working on https://github.com/viggy28/streambed to perform analytics queries on S3 using DuckDB
I was tired of setting up additional read replicas and Snowflake for our BI teams, I built an analytics database using S3 and DuckDB.
Overall I agree with the sentiment. Still a long way to go before this open stack being production ready.
I know places which are easily paying 6 to 7 figures for their “analytics” stack and big part of it is the cloud data warehouse cost.
Even though they are mainly for DevTools/Infra you can try https://buildrappo.com/
As an early-stage tech founder, I have met multiple leaders there who are also angels on the side. All the best.
wondering does the same law applicable to Instacart, Postmates etc..?
Very nice. Curious can you compare and contrast with https://www.chatwoot.com/ (looks like they are also similar)
exact reason why I moved from Onenote to Typora (for Mac) and Notability (for Ipad)
Horizon technologies | Remote (Preferably US or India) | Part-Time | Python | Javascript | https://horizontech.dev/ Horizon Technologies is one of the leading student accelerators. Currently, looking for mentors who have experience building realtime applications in Python or Javascript for more than 2+ years.
1. Horizon started in 2009 and trained 5000+ students. 2. Our ideal mentors are someone who is focused more on giving to the community and have a passion for learning. 3. Mentorship includes code review (mostly Python, Javascript (React)), designing projects/problem statements, Pair Programming, advocating best practices.

sorry, what you mean by Leanbook?
We have been using Typora and love it. Very simple. Supports md.
On a side note, I always wonder how their valuation ($MDB) keeps getting increased!
Working on Horizon Project where a bunch of engineers mentoring freshers in getting their job. Kinda Google Summer of Code. For the interested folk's https://www.horizontech.dev
I would expect Netflix to have reasonably detailed strategic analysis and projections of all of the available options - moving to Google, moving to Azure, moving to Oracle, moving to multi-cloud, colocation, not to mention things we can't even imagine because ... well, we have no real idea.
I think the same too. Curious to confirm the thought process and curious to hear if there any anecdotes
And you think that's because they moved off of AWS?
rather than developing internally simply because the long-term ROI doesn't warrant it
To clarify, I am not expecting them to build their own cloud, but why they using it when other providers have caught up pretty much.
Great points. I understand that it comes with an expense, but "I think" in the long run it would benefit them.
Conversely, if Netflix built out their own cloud Well, they don't have to build their own cloud. They can use other cloud providers still.
Thanks for the response. But totally disagree.
Would that be less than the cost of staying with AWS? I think the answer is Yes. The main advantage of Cloud computing I think is the speed to market, not the cost. Excerpt from https://techcrunch.com/2019/06/21/three-years-after-moving-o... "Dropbox still believes it made the right decision and has found innovative ways to keep costs down"
Is Amazon exploiting their position as Netflix's hosting provider to unfairly compete with them? I completely disagree. Here is one example (Certainly, a simple G search should give enough examples) https://www.wsj.com/articles/amazon-scooped-up-data-from-its...
It would be great if you can also mention how would you like to compensate the collaborators.

Wondering what's the next steps for TagMango. I would love to connect with you folks.
Spent the weekend mentoring students who are building projects using React and Python.
Perfect. I also signed up yesterday. Thanks.
Got it. Thanks.
Are security and privacy the reason for the aversion to phone number and social methods?
