Sorry, but this is nonsense. I'm not talking about photos, but about graphs, line art, tables. Using PNG you can create real small (in filesize) images, like 10-30 kilobytes. The size of the image (dimension) often doesn't matter that much. You can create the same image (black on white or line art with three or four colors) and resizing (less pixels) it won't make much of a difference in file size, nothing significant.

I cannot believe that publishers create small pictures because bigger pictures means that their book will be deleted later on. That argument seems far fetched.

I know a guy who wrote for tv magazines. He wrote extensive reviews, did nterviews. He can't make a living anymore. He currently is learning how to use AI to his advantage.

I'm talking about books I have boought. I paid money for these books and expect some quality.

That is the problem. He should have contacted them like he did the second time. When he went into their shop, it all depended on that particular employee, and you can't blame that person for not recognizing the issue.

We don't want to pay for software? Look at the Appstore! Good products for reasonable prices are worth the money. Affinity offers a good product for a reasonable price. Adobe offers a better product but the subscription model is hated by many. For me Affinity products are good enough. Let's hope the current versions keep on working on Apple Silicon and Windows 11/12/etc. The current 2 version is good enough for me and for the next ten years. If I really need AI tools for image editing, I'll take a one month subscription to some tool.

Apple never had a numpad on its laptops. Since the aluminum unibody design, the Apple laptops outshine all Windows laptops because of the touchpad alone. Nothing compares to it. On a Macbook I don't want to use a mouse, on a Windows laptop I don't want to use the touchpad. I've never had any touchpad that really worked for me, so without thinking about it. The fact that they still have those buttons and that I have to use two hands, or move my fingers away from the touchpad, or lift my fingers from the touchpad to tap to click - unbelievable that they haven't figured this out.

The Mac just works. The only time the touchpad doesn't work is when you need pixel precise selection like in photo editing, and even then it outshines all Windows touchpads.

All Windows laptops I've had look outdated after two years. I've had three Macbooks, the previous two 5 and 7 years, and both didn't look outdated, not even used

The body, magsafe, touchpad, no stupid privacy settings, disk encryption, no OS licensing - this laptop works for me. With Windows it's always waiting for the time that it doesn't work like expected or doesn't work at all.

In NL we have IDIN. A website can use it to verify age or address information. I don't think that any porn-websites are using it, but technically this should do the job.

IDIN is set up by all the Dutch banks. You check in via your own bank using an IDIN link. IDIN will do an age-check to verify that you're 18 or older. IDIN can verify age, name, address and contact info. You need a bank account, and the bank has checked your identity and age, so this is guaranteed to work.

Maybe you don't want that the bank knows that you visit a porn website, but that's another question.

Once I worked in a small office and we used ancient but silent servers and we needed new ones. We had a rack in one of the rooms, so without thinking I bought two new rack servers. Worst decision ever.

They were screaming loud. You could hear them in all the offices. Temperature in that room went up to 45°C. In the end we could store them somewhere in a closet and ignore the noise.
