But yes, on the other side of it, if a 60 year old obese person isn't taking the vaccine, they're misinformed too. Their risk benefit analysis is off.

I agree. It'd be the same with Covid too if the risk was high. Ultimately the reason so many don't want a Covid vaccine is because the risk of hospitalization is only 1.6% and is well below 1% if you're young and otherwise healthy. Or if you already had Covid and have natural immunity you're about as protected as the vaccinated (<1% chance of hospitalization).

If the risk of hospitalization or death was 10%? 30%? Almost everyone would want the vaccine except the real hardcore anti-vaxxers. You wouldn't have to mandate or otherwise coerce people to take something if the threat was that credible generally. Few resist the smallpox vaccine, for example.

I keep seeing this repeated. Why do so many people still think leaky vaccines prevent transmission?

If we were a serious society, then the conversation would be about:

immune vs non-immune

high risk vs low risk

infectious vs non-infectious

But no, it's jabbed vs unjabbed. It doesn't make sense. Everyone in Germany who wants the vaccine has had it, and if you've had Covid, you're about as protected as the vaccinated. This is not a rational, science-based policy. This is about punishing the non-compliant, mostly the under class. As the upper class continues with their events surrounded by masked servants, with endless examples of officials breaking their own rules. Worse, we are normalizing the dehumanization of a group of people who we're told are diseased and dangerous and it's all their fault. Germany of all places should be absolutely allergic to such rhetoric.

UK is now recommending boosters be applied just 3 months after vaccination. If that's the trend, Vaccine as a Service has a bright future.

I hope you're right, but what signs do you see that it's at the tail end? Home ownership rate is at 65%. They want their home value to keep increasing and I don't see evidence of millennials being any less self interested when the rubber meets the road.

That, plus most of those vaccines were tested for 13+ years before becoming mandatory. Polio was an outlier at 6 years. The cost benefit analysis made sense in that case given how destructive polio is for kids.
