I like ipv6 but I have been thinking of disabling it lately because i cannot technically setup static leases with ipv6 like i can with ipv4, so technically the ipv6 for one of the services in my homelab could change and cause problems.

Absolutely. On that subject, I prefer the Atlassian method for storing dotfiles in git but sometimes I feel like it's Mootools vs jQuery all over again.

~/.config/git/ignore and ~/.config/git/config is the proper place for your global git config and ignore instead of creating a ~/.gitignore_global and changing the config. IMO.

my dotfiles are a lot smaller at the root level taking advantage of the ~/.config/ for a lot more things.

the git exclude isn't used as much because it doesn't get committed to the repository so you'd have to recreate it each time you wanted to use it. that doesn't mean they're bad just why they are not used.

Also, what about installation directories? I always install homebrew to ~/.brew since I know I’ll always have access to my home directory without sudo.

I really like mise but I don’t think it’s an adequate homebrew replacement. I use it more for project management dependencies and tasks.

We did the LAN party for a while then converted it to magic the gathering game nights because we could sit around the table, see and talk to each other instead of through the screen.

Both were fun. The magic the gathering was akin to a guys poker night.

We didn’t need things to do back then. We would usually find something like playing wall ball against someone’s house. What we need is kids who respect other people’s things, neighbors to not be crotchety, wide open spaces and trails would be nice.

Of course it does, it says "Police have used license plate readers..." not "Police officers have used license plate readers..." or indicated that individual officers have abused their authority.

I wouldn't say I am a huge proponent of Flock, especially considering their lack luster security for the individual cameras at least in my area, but the title makes it sound like it's an institutional procedure that the department stalking their romantic interests instead of individual officers that need to be properly reprimanded.

I’ve done a lot with Claude and OpenAI both, A LOT, but I’m still a little wary at letting it have too much access so I haven’t tried this feature in either of them.
