Stupid blog post. Everybody can write "OS sucks" article about OS in which they dont work & dont know how to use it.

I have a VM on azure, and no downtime in last 3 months. Also, didn't notice any problems with disks.

Its just too expensive, you cant host your custom domain name on free instance. And there's nothing between 0 and 50$. I'm waiting for prices of azure web sites, hopefully it would compare to shared hosting prices.

App service is like API, facade, to which a presentation layer (web, mobile app) is connecting. Architecturally speaking, it doesn't have to be separate an app that connects.

It has nothing to do with any lang or framework, blog author could put Cobol example probably, its more like app architecture.

Event sourcing (eventstore) is different way of modelling complex business logic in object oriented language. Where you think about behaviour and verbs of your business, not data, properties, tables and relations. Not for CRUD apps, web portals, simple web shops, CMSs and similar apps.

But why is that a problem? You can install everything on Win8 classic (non-RT). Tablet version Win8RT is closed platform and marketplace, just like iOS Store, but desktop users can use Win8 like they're using all other win versions till now!

This whole 'marketplace' story is bad because

- it's not true. Steam is same thing like win store, or apple store (IMHO). Just money will now go to MS, not to Valve

- news portal editors should explain readers that you can install classic apps to Win8 (Pro), but Metro apps must go through Store. So, on PC+Win8 you can install everything.

- MS PR is responsible for this also, they should educate ppl more about this RT/Classic mess

But other browsers can't take advantage of fast Javascript compiler like Safari can, or i'm i wrong? That's almost like Apple forbid all other browser.

Why now this article, when IE 9/10 finally works well (from web dev point of view)? Maybe it's just me, i'm not expert in html/css by far, but I must do tweaks for firefox and chrome equally like i do for IE. Or better, i don't do them very much in last year or so, browser standards works in all latest version today.

As early adopter of WP7, i'll make that mistake again. Those devices always looks great on commercials and (biased) reviews, but when you start using them on daily basis you notice that they're missing some important features (like buggy notifications on WP7).

Also, metro apps often crashes on my desktop Win8 rtm, and not third party-ones ....

Its how MS marketing works: Metro is new thing they must sell and they are promoting it best they can (and that's not always the best way it could be done). Classic mode will remain on desktop in the future, and Metro is for tablets and desktops. New versions of Photoshop, Premiere, Audocad, Maya, 3d Studio, SAP, VisualStudio, SQLMS,... will be desktop versions, installed directly, not from MS Store. So really dont know why Minecraft can't be sold on Minecraft web, files downloaded and installed manually, like its done last 20 years, and it will be done probably in next 10 years?

What's the new tech stack? Old myspace was asp.net, and I still see response headers with IIS 7.5 and asp.net 4. Wonder what's new architecture!

Waited for the official answer. It's bad, there's no answer. As someone who started learning Titanium, this is really deal-breaker for me! Off to phonegap, xamarin, or native ...

first .net reflector, not this... They say web debugger will remain free, so will be able to see http traffic from that free version? What will offer paid version?

I really didn't like idea of mixing metro with normal desktop style of work. Now, after two weeks of using it on work and at home, I can just say that it works great - metro doesn't interfere with desktop apps, I'm using them like i did on win7, and win8 is better with regular desktop style of work in every way!

Startup/shutdown speed is also totally awesome, even I basically don't power off my computer, never. So, now, when there's no much metro style apps, win8 as desktop OS works great, and in about one year when Store fills up, it'll be even better.

Other things I really like that are much improved over win7: HyperV inside OS, ISO Mount, multi-monitor support (taskbar, wallpapers), cloud integration, copy/delete/move dialogs with speed graph, task manager.
