Can we stop buying into the stupid "Department of War" naming!? An act of Congress is needed to rename it, so unless that happens (unlikely, given the current leaning toward gebral inaction on the part of Congress), it's still the Department of Defense and we shouldn't buy into this administration's warmongering PR.

Writing code yourself?
Pathetic posturing. Also, does this read ECACTLY like an Andor script to anybody else!?
Tom Scott would agree with you. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pU9sHwNKc2c
I remember being blown away by Second Reality! Thanks for the trip down memory lane! ;]
I'm sorry, but you're missing the spirit of this. It's a post about the spirit of Chuck Norris as represented as a concept on the Internet rather than the actual person. Yes, the person may be reprehensible, however that is not what's being addressed here, rather it's the idea of the concept of Chuck Norris.
And that's the whole spirit of this post in the first place. There is a certain sort of beauty to being so forgiving. The fact that HTML rendering can deal with this level of inanity is frankly an awesome aspect of the web that has enabled loads of creativity by non-programmer types (speaking as a programmer here). I think sometimes we need to pull our heads out of our collective asses and allow for this sort of thing to permit beautiful things to happen.
That looks amazing! I immediately bought it, thanks for the recommendation!
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu...
I am DEEPLY offended by this travesty! Why can't we have nice things!? The enshittification is real...
as someone who enjoys shell scripting
Ya sick bahstahd! ;]
Get off my lawn! ;]
I wonder if you could do a split keyboard and have it hanging off the sides like little winglets to get around the bending moment issues. Of course I have no idea what it would actually feel like to type on something like that, and it'd look weird as hell and make the phone oddly wide, but can't help but be curious about it.
You have my permission to steal this idea if anybody wants to hive that a shot. ;]
Stop scrollbar hate! Bring back the scrollbar! MSBGA! (doesn't have quite the same ring, guess we'll need to workshop that ;] ).
Cool little library for using a Raspberry Pi Pico and 2 high-speed DAC's for drawing vector and raster graphics on an oscilloscope CRT. Thoroughly frivolous, but also highly entertaining! ;]

Credit Unions aren't FDIC insured, which is what this data set is using.
Wait, was this NOT a belated April Fool's joke?
I love it! I've been ranting about touchscreen-mania in cars for years now! Good on ya, Hyundai!
That is an awesome site that I will be using a LOT from now on! I love it when I find gems like this on HN! Thank you for making this!
Check if your electricity provider offers Green Button Download. https://www.energy.gov/data/green-button
I've never understood this about budgeting. So you allocate. A budget. These are fund YOU ARE PLANNING TO SPEND! So, OK, you DON'T spend them this year. Why the fuck don't you get to SAVE THAT MONEY!? No, instead you are punished for now spending it all and you cannot create a realistic budget for next year - why the hell not!?
Sorry, but this frustrates the hell out of me! What am I missing here? What arcane bit of finance lore leads us down this path? Am I just hopelessly naive? Is acing money such a bad thing!? I just don't get it...
I love using HammerSpoon for this sort of thing. Not for the faint-hearted to get to a point where you're happy with the configuration, but it's a total Swiss Army knife for scripting just about anything on your system, from window placement/moving to changing DNS or proxy settings when connecting to different networks, to preventing sleep, etc. It pretty much does the job of 15 other tools I might need to install otherwise. Yeah, you need to learn Lua (easy), and be willing to invest a bunch of time in it initially for setup, but once you have done that, you won't want to go back!
Mosquitto seems to be the de-facto "standard" choice for a Pi. Easy to set up and definitely lightweight.
Why wasn't the last one named Facadez?
Is nobody else concerned with the implications of what losing sleep does to the doctor going through residency? I've always thought that was insane. The author even admits to having observed the detrimental effects first-hand, yet never suggests that this practice should be abandoned - why is that!?
I as a patient have enough of a problem giving myself into the care of a doctor-in-training, why does s/he have to sleep-deprived on top of not being fully trained? Is this some sort of macho thing, or a "well, I went through this hazing, so you gotta do it, too" kind of thing?
Somebody please enlighten me as to what the point of this seemingly counter-productive practice is!
Wow - I really hope that was meant to be sarcastic... (if so, sorry I missed it, carry on and ignore this)
I'm a white male and even I can read the tone-deafness in master/slave. Modeling computer architecture names on one of the great crimes against humanity is not a great naming convention, I'm sure you can agree.
Is it just me, or does Elsevier sound like something out of Skyrim?
