Oooooh, now I'm thinking... you could design a simple circuitboard that holds multiple picos (surface mounted) and uses the USB data pads on the back to pull all the USB ports out to an onboard USB hub basically allowing you to add a multitude of wifi adapters to a project in one USB cable. Would be great for War Driving!

Before we had the ESP32 type products that are now popular, using a Pi was often one of the only easy ways to make simple internet connected devices at home. I remember making smart lights and home sensors, speakers, clocks and all sorts of things using the Pi Zero W. It was cheap, small and easy to get up and running.

I and many other people very much used it like a microcontroller.

I've personally bought at least 10 of these things. Some of us build keyboards for fun!

When we need that, we can use Apple/Android pay in many many places or just spin up a temporary visa/mastercard with platforms like Revolut.

You upgrade the Mk3 to a Mk3s, upgrade the Mk3S to the Mk4, upgrade the Mk4 to the Mk4s and the Mk4s to the Core One.

Prusa sell upgrade kits for each generation of printer.

If you were to do it all in one go it would require replacing the same components multiple times and would be insanely expensive and time consuming but if you upgrade as the product evolves its not a big deal (I recently upgraded my Mk4 to a Mk4s and I'll probably jump to the Core One in the coming year if I have some free time).

BTW... just so you know, you have to uninstall the official app otherwise YouTube just redirects you.

Kid probably realised his friends all had windows machines that could serve double duty as a gaming machine and wanted some of that action.

My kids school has been giving every kid in the upper school an m1 macbook air and they have to replace a LOT of them. Everything they do is in the cloud (Google classroom, docs etc) so they don't need powerful machines. The school was considering moving to chromebooks but I can see them choosing this instead just to keep their current provisioning workflows etc.

Adafruit actually focus on CircuitPython which is a fork of Micro Python but takes some of the complexity of Micro Python away. I don't personally like coding in C++ as I started my career with Perl then PHP and Javascript. Writing Python in my own choice of text editor instead of the Arduino IDE is much more my style.

In one of the BBC articles when talking about the ghost gun in his possession, they have added "possibly 3d printed". This is the only place I have seen this mentioned and it's really annoying because there is already enough rhetoric about 3d printed guns and various groups trying to regulate 3d printers, the last thing we need is something as big as this for them to attach to!

Same here, thanks to me working from home my wife has been able to return to work (she's a teacher) which has given us more income (and less costs!) and massively improved our financial position!

Do they actually "own" it? I work for a large company who spent millions building a new office and then immediately sold it to a different company so they could lease it instead of owning it (apparently this looks better on the books!)

I had a similar situation with my shutter blinds. The company wanted €500 to install a "smart hub" to enable voice control instead of their little remote. To hell with that, I ordered a couple of servos and an esp8266 and 3d printed some little fingers that would press the buttons on the remote and added the whole thing to HomeAssistant via ESPHome. Cost me less than €30.

I remember back in the early 00's someone at work found out about my blog and news got around the office (it was a personal blog, more like a diary and I was in my late teens so it was kinda "edgy"). What I always wonder though, is if this kind of upbringing is so positive for kids, why are so many boomers so self-centered and spiteful? Surely, they should be happy, beautiful and kind?

Absolutely right... I used to use Pi Zero W's for IOT projects. I had several of them around my house running sensors, rgb lights and the like. Now I can do the same thing with a much smaller device like an ESP32. Setting up a device that changes light colour based on time can be done with a €3 esp8266 flashed with WLED. For other projects I will use the beefier ESP32-S2/S3 or the Pi Pico Microcontroller.

This reminds me of when I used to work for an ISP. Every November the "my internet doesn't work when we turn on the Christmas tree" calls would start. It was usually interference from cheap tree lights, but occasionally it was people unplugging the router to plug in their Christmas tree :D

What I don't get is why they don't just roll it out everywhere? Surely it's more hassle for them to maintain multiple versions of iOS with different features for different markets?

I appreciate the effort that goes into animation like this, but I always have to wonder, especially in the context of the web if it's worth all of the additional code and development time for such a minor detail. Do our users even notice?
