You are not necessarily the master of your own truth
You will on reddit
Whether or not it’s surprising is kind of besides the point no? It’s still a problem and to get it fixed the first step is to draw attention to it.
Think you should tone it down a little, whether or not I agree
Yea to me his comment reads as a whiplash to realizing some of the downfalls of haskell. But he seems like he takes it way too far.
It seems less reliable to learn is optimization quirks, since you’re depending on an (infrequently changing?) implementation detail. Also writing those things sounds muh messier and less maintainable. All heuristic points I’m making.
Is having 100 dependencies bad?
I don’t believe you are representative of a normal user
I don't see why not
?? How is this political?
There is on iOS
You don’t understand that quote. It’s saying 70% of the time when people think reinforcement learning is the solution it’s not. Not saying that 30% of all problems are solvable by reinforcement learning. Sometimes I can’t tell if people here you included are intentionally misreading things to further their agenda.
It doesn’t matter, but for the record I don’t think you’re right to assert this is uncivil. I didn’t write it pejoratively, I thought he was focusing on an extraneous detail and missing the bigger picture, which is (imo) the meaning of obtuse. I think if you’re in battle mode then you’d be inclined to take it as an insult, but I don’t think it must be one (and I don’t think it’s wise to write as though everyone’s in battle mode - to cater to that)
Is this uncivil? I can see why its unsubstantive (Although my parent wasnt exactly substantive either). Whether or not its against the rules - do you understand my point?
You’re going to get in trouble for using the words “on both sides”
I don’t think hacker news would say this but many would: “one side is literally Nazis”.. not a very thoughtful complaint
Seems to me like you’re focusing on the word stupid which is actually fair in this context
Theres no pleasing everyone. There will always be people who reject them.
Nope, 700+ now
On a topic like this it’s important I think to address the elephant in the room. I don’t think this implies a genetic issue! I’m not an expert but from what I know this shouldn’t lead me to the conclusion that “black Americans are predisposed to violence” and, if you know approximately the same things I do, I think that’s probably fair for you too!
And what is jewelry’s worth? What is fine arts worth? What is fiat currency worth? The world is chock full of goods with no inherent value. None. Fine art is worth a lot BECAUSE it is worth a lot.
Kim kardashian is famous for being famous. It’s clear the world is not utilitarian.
Sustained sleep deprivation by lithium doesn’t sound any better than sleep deprivation by literal lack of sleep.
Why would you want to copy her body language? Is your natural body language mute and unemotional? That sounds like a bigger problem.
So your issue isnt about rust, its about changing popularity and language trendiness?
Well I feel like it’s kind of easy to guess what they mean. I’m sure it’s related to spying and data hoarding and tracking and privacy issues and their incentives are highly misaligned and encourage unethical anti consumer behavior.
Why can’t you just cache it with a hash?
They’re adding gc and dom support to wasm
They’re adding all those things to wasm. I think you’re mistaken about the future.
Isn’t that most places? It kind of makes sense, because actual productivity isn’t necessarily the easiest to measure (although I think it comes across just in attitude.. how much they care about he project.)
Because people unfailingly pushback against it. The pushers should start their push acknowledging that it is possible if it’s really such an elementary claim to them.
