not directly related but strikes a similar chord, here in my country a lot of kids take up nursing so they can eventually get a job overseas. Once they graduate they need work experience before they can apply for jobs overseas so they work at local hospitals that give meager pay. Factoring in commute and meal expenses, they earn less than their living expenses. In a way, they are "paying" for this privilege of getting the experience necessary to move on and take a shot at a better life outside the country.

Overall from recent experience, I've had better luck in LinkedIn compared to other platforms. The time you send your application matters too. I filter out job postings when they are over a week old. There's usually no point being 100th in line.

Same here. I would prefer someone who uses any / all tools at their disposal to accomplish the objectives. I also do recognize that there is a chance that someone blindly using generated code (the new version of copy/pasting from StackOverflow). The results of those will surface at some point or the other.

The practical "solution" (if one can even call it that) is to carry on. If you can afford it or if it is seriously affecting your wellbeing, just quit and look for a new job. If you can't, just carry on until you find a job.

Bought a replacement battery battery for my wife's mid 2012 MBP. It was really slow even even after I upgraded RAM to 16GB and put in an SSD. Replacing the battery restored the performance.

I started learning Solana recently to try and see what the fuss was all about. After getting beyond the basics I took a look at the technical concepts behind NFTs and my first reaction was literally - "this is creating something out of nothing". It was the equivalent of just inserting some rows into a database except that the operations were all logged in an immutable audit trail.

While I appreciate the value that a decentralized system of record with immutable log entries that the blockchain offers, I struggle to see how NFTs have value. But who am I to argue when buyers put their money into it.

Power management/Battery life. When I used to just sit in one place with my laptop plugged in it worked well for me (I do everything in the browser and/or VSCode). Unplugged, the battery seems to stretch out more on Windows than on Ubuntu.

(I've always only upgraded to LTS releases)

I use excalidraw for high level diagrams. Love the handdrawn feel to it. There's a feature to collaborate too but I haven't tried it yet.

Will resumes used as examples or for any other purposes be anonymized? I.e. if you chose my resume as a "bad example" for instance, would it be anonymized? Or would it be shown as-is with my name and other details?

Wow! I've recently uploaded all my old photos to Google photos to take advantage of the free offering. I guess I should prepare myself for the time they start charging for it.

I am not American but I gained an appreciation for American Football when I started playing NFL 2k when it came out for the Dreamcast. I continued buying the game when it was out for the PS2 and was sad when that exclusive license thing was announced. I was looking forward to the day when the license expired but sadly that day never came.

One thing I also miss is the 2k College Hoops game. It was like playing NBA 2kx except that the rosters didn't matter because they were all randomly generated.

I personally have taken myself to learn more about psychology. I've already spent most of my life learning about machines and how to control them. It's time to learn more about people.

I'm on Unity on Ubuntu 16.04. It's essentially just a way for me to launch a terminal (terminator) and an IDE. There is nothing in particular that I like or dislike as it just gets the simple job done for me.
