the interview process was rewritten at coreweave by a bunch of hired google engineers to reflect the rest of the industry about a month before they went public. at the time they were prepping for IPO they started to hire from other fortune 500s aggressively, and the whole company went from startup to same shit as the valley over about 6 months. when i interviewed the process was shockingly simple, like literally tell me how to fetch json in go, and by the time i left it was 6 rounds targeted to take two months.

i’ve become convinced that the devs that talk about having to fix the code are the same ones that would make incredibly poor managers. when you manage a team you need to be focused on the effect of the code not the small details.

this sort of developer in a pair programming exercise would find themselves flustered at how a junior approached problem solving and just fix it themselves. i strongly suspect the loss of a feeling of control is at play here.

and you’re right, some drivers are just inconsiderate. but an autonomous car, with its 360-degree awareness, might handle things like unexpected merges better than we think. it’s a good point, technology might adapt to these situations more efficiently than we anticipate.

this is a common occurrence for people who act this way towards others. if you engage in the above behaviors, then you likely assume everyone else does too, and therefore are reasonably upset at the mean things and sneering you anticipate others engaging in. it's really important in these scenarios to recognize that your actions and others are most likely not the same, most people don't just shit on strangers for 'fun'.

blue/red is more or less country vs urban. most red states are that way because lack of cultural exposure, driven by isolation due to distance
