I was building a pc and the ai was hellbent on saying either the cpu pins are bent or motherboard is faulty. Both giving me a panic attack. The solution came from updating bios which i had done so ai ruled it out. But the shop owner did the bios update again and it worked

As someone who still uses a QNX phone, the Blackberry Q10 as my second phone, I’m not just optimistic for the return of the cross-platform and secure os, I’m rooting for it. Especially for portable Linux handhelds. If Blackberry were to release a phone tomorrow, it would instantly be the most secure android phone. I still run some of my favourite android apps on my BB10os via the android translation layer.

Some comments mentioning QNX can run Swift code makes me think of it could also run iPhone apps.

While Blackberry exited the phone market, I’m surprised to know QNX is still the most popular os for cars. With 275 million devices running it atm.

DVDs and BluRay should definitely be much more mainstream. They can save you tons of money on cloud storage. I keep hundreds of GB of old video lectures series, books and more on DVDs and plan to move to a Bluray setup soon.

I agree both irctc and upi come to mind first as the successes. Insurance, could be a particular company as i never faced such problem. Totally agree. Mechanical Memory is everywhere. I don't intend to show this paper as a breakthrough, but the interesting thing here is that the memory stored is 'analog', 'scale independent' (Can be shrunk down), and also re-writable. This is not too different from a Compact Disc and we wrote this paper as we thought its an interesting observation. Besides this system is closer to biological systems than memory storing devices. I don't agree with the news article title as we don't present a working device. There are advantages with memory devices independent of 'electrons' as they can't be affected by electromagnetic fields which is why Discs are still in use for storing data across decades. 'Kitchen sponges can be used for storing memory' kinda would have been more accurate.

I believe there would be a single polymath who has skills in multiple fields, such as Oppenheimer who was great at science and administration who can lead a group for successful execution. For Apollo moon mission, it was the US president vision at the foremost. Even for TSMC and other companies such people exist. I don't want to say that entire credit goes to an individual but leaders with multiple skills are necessary.

Moreover, splitting the decision making is so conflict prone and unoptimised for competition. I had a look at some statistics that showed most successful startups take off when they have a single founder

To the folks particularly in US obsessed about driverless cars, why don't you instead focus on public transport, which is by default "driverless" for millions of people if you ignore a couple of metro/train drivers per 1000s of people.

The point of a driverless car, from what I understand, is having end-to-end connectivity without the need to drive which is pain.

I live in a place where public transport already has last mile connectivity and I walk the rest of the way. Never owned a car and never plan to.

By the looks of it, to me this is just the once in 5 years rumor cycle. The authors have been working on it for a long time and have been rejected by Nature. Other co-authors have said they weren't consulted before uploading the paper. The author who uploaded had to give a talk, and for whatever reason uploaded it on Arxiv before uploading, and didn't expect it would blow up like it has. For official confirmation of room temp superconductor, I would rather go with a big publishing journal group organising a press conference before paying any attention.

As a phone 1 user I'm offended . The backlights are a significant trick to invoke minimalism in smartphone use. Screens are more addictive than led lights. So it is actually useful. You don't need to look at phone screen and then get distracted away.
