I wasn't alive in the 90s, so for me it was 2012-2015. Android was pretty open, iOS was easier to jailbreak, and the ecosystem felt a lot "freer" than today where you step outside of Google or Apple's garden and get endless Cloudflare captchas, apps refuse to load due to attestation, and things are designed without privacy in mind.

Remember the good ol' days when we fully owned and controlled our devices? I want that back!

It is 100% legitimate, not "creative writing". The only value in college is the piece of paper to get a job. If you can get a job by lying about having the paper, even better!

Qwen does generate everything, so I'm not exactly sure. It wasn't anything too unique, so it could've easily learned and regurgitated it from any one of hundreds of sites.

+1 on Qwen Vision, its far better than anything else I've seen, and its open source, woo!

What are Western models for other than being the ethics police when you ask about something controversial, if the Chinese models are superior and lack the moral / ethical BS? Don't trust China? Self-host Chinese models or host in AWS and verify the output!

MacOS people really will pay for just about anything. Actually, it appears that they PREFER to pay.

China has had the requirement to "bind" online accounts to ID for almost a decade. No one complained because they already verified with Weixin (WeChat) so they just linked their accounts to it.

As always, this will only affect those who either lack the knowledge or the resources to work around it. The innocent people always take the fall.
