i wonder what this will do to Apple's hardware lineup? If people are demanding more power from macs as game technology on the platform advances, and people can't just upgrade their video card, what will happen to the game market? Die off, or goad Apple into a mid-range mac pro?

i think that's the root of it. and i suspect they will have a hell of a time trying to manufacture consumer demand to meet their supply.
i prefer to use "global climate change" instead of "global warming" to avoid confusing people with only a cursory understanding of how climate works.
what the article doesn't state is which segment of their comapny this applies to. engineering? management? i'm going to guess not janitorial staff.
also important to note: each stylesheet cannot have more than 4095 CSS rules, in IE. experiencing this limit makes for some mighty interesting debugging.
yeah, i was noticing error messages in chrome linux beta w/ gmail yesterday, too. would pop up an error dialog that said some features did not load, etc. though i could read and reply to mail just fine after i dismissed the dialog box.
hell, the "web design" course i took in college was a joke! this was late 90's, but still, we used netscape composer for most of the work. i taught myself everything i know about web design/development today, and i've been in the industry since 2000.

i use gowalla (prettier) mostly just to kill time while i wait in line or for the bill to arrive. and to stalk my friends. not much use beyond that, to me.
not a bad tutorial, but i feel like this is more a demo of jquery's cycle plugin more than a lesson on code reusablility.
well, that is one thing that will definitely set it apart from tumblr. hopefully they can use it to carve out a good niche.
Barbara London and John Updike's "Photography" is literally the textbook most beginning photographers get in school. i'd suggest looking at used book sites to see if you can get a copy second-hand, since it is priced like a college textbook, too.

nice, all this needs is a Class object and it'd be perfect (though i guess you could just add base.js to the mix).
site sorely needs a more prominent description of what the goals and/or philosophy of the project are, so you can tell why you might want to choose it over any other php framework.

Jeremy Keith's "Dom Scripting" is a pretty good guide for getting up to speed with the basics of good JavaScript coding. If you want to transition to something more advanced later, I'd suggest "Pro JavaScript Design Patterns" by Dustin Diaz.
