"Programming languages should be designed with human factors as a primary concern.

Traditional programming languages have been designed predominately with technical concepts and machines in mind. While such concerns are obviously critical, human beings ultimately use such tools in the broad development community. In evidence-oriented programming, human factors evidence takes a first-class seat in the language's design. All factors related to programming are considered, up for debate, and are subject to change if a community member shows rigorous evidence that another approach is better. This is true both for technical and human factors considerations. To our knowledge, Quorum is the first programming language to attempt this."

So Quorum refers to developers coming to an consensus on what programming approach is better technical or not..

Japan has been in 25-30 year recession. Due to government polices the Japanese have seen their wealth deteriorate and the hardest hit are the young professionals who have work more than their elders. If people don't feel financially secure they don't procreate. This issue is only going to grow more pronounced as nations devalue in the race to the bottom. However for Japan the problem is exacerbated with great ideas like the one below. FTA:

“handsome tax”: “If we impose a handsome tax on men who look good to correct the injustice only slightly, then it will become easier for ugly men to find love, and the number of people getting married will increase.”

"They should also vote to raise the debt ceiling (or better yet, abolish it)."

Well there is. The whole problem with publications like this is that they like to provide answers without explaining the consequences. The Economist is especially bad since its title proclaims it as an expert but if we did we what it proposes there would be no limit to the amount of debt the US could borrow and thus no limit to the amount of poverty we would leave to future generations.

Currently the US accrues 2.5t in tax revenue per annum and spends 3.8t or it overspends 1.3t a year. So it should be clear to anyone with the most basic understanding of math the US needs to cut spending. Raising the debt limit is the exact opposite of that and would be equivalent of trying to lose weight by letting out your belt.

This article is so based in false premises its hard to know where to start. For 1) San Francisco has the highest minimum wage in the country. 2) California has an high sales tax with a base of 7% and 8.75% in "the city". She also choose a trendy place for her $6 dollar breakfast that and taxes are a large reason for the amount.

I think what everyone really notices is the exorbitant rent prices in "the city". The reason for that is rent control and subsidized housing which artificially lowers the supply of housing thus raising prices. I am techie living in a crappy part of SF in a crappy building since I don't want to pay half my salary in rent. Across from me is a Mercy housing complex with an income limit of 30k. They enjoy large rooms, views and cheaper rent than me but no blames pricing on that. Its all the techies fault for bringing income and demand to "the city".
