I'd imagine they want to do price segmentation. Sell the best model for $50k a year to corporations willing to pay full price, keep the rest of us on a lower tier. Gotta pay for that infra somehow.

It's a good start. Would be nice to add a gradually increasing tax on multiple home purchases, e.g. buying a third home has a 5% tax, 4th 15% tax, fifth 25%, and if you want a sixth home you have to build it yourself. Would prevent regular people from buying up dozens of homes to rent.

Last year, Ford filed a patent for an in-car advertising system that would use the car’s speakers and display screen to serve ads to drivers and passengers

I've owned Ford stock for 10 years, I think I'll finally sell it today

"The law banning TikTok, which was scheduled to go into effect Sunday, allows the president to grant a 90-day extension before the ban is enforced, provided certain criteria are met"

Sounds like they're operating within the law

From the Korean air incident: "As a result of the incident...President Ronald Reagan issued a directive making American satellite-based radio navigation Global Positioning System freely available for civilian use, once it was sufficiently developed, as a common good."

I think some country has developed some very cool drones with non-traditional propulsion. I'm imagining gyroscopes inside mounted on gimbals, and when pressure is applied to the gyroscopes they cause the spheres to spin and bend through the air like a ping pong ball, but in a controlled fashion. The spheres are supposed to be 3-6m wide, so filled with helium could have enough lift to counterbalance 50 pounds of equipment.

Does that really work? I'm trying to build a site with upvotes--wouldn't it be really easy for someone with 100 bought Google accounts to make 100 accounts on my site?

What's best practice for preventing bot abuse, for mere mortal developers? Would requiring a non-voip phone number at registration be effective?

I can already see Matt Levine's column: if someone places secret recorders at Starbucks and leaks the transcript to the internet, is it insider trading?
