I agree that intensive agriculture is needed, but it's not so easy to compare the two.

I don't know much about the topic, but my understand was that bison graze more selectively, and have behaviors where they roll in grass, creating dirt ruts, which provides habitat for insects etc.

Bison are far more unruly though, so you need serious fencing to keep them contained, so it's less practical. I think they are lower maintenance than cattle, but bison just doesn't have the market.

I'm naive about this topic, but I think other factors to consider are the manufacturing and maintenance. A PHEV just can't be as efficient to manufacture as a BEV. This is particularly true as investment dollars follow the money into batteries and the ICE supplier chain grows tighter. Then, once you've got it, you still need to maintain it like an ICE, even though you'd rather just use the battery.

That being said, I think PHEVs are great, but I think consumers and producers both see greater benefits moving to full BEV.

Not certain, but that Dunstan is likely a hybrid species of American with Chinese chestnut for blight resistance.

The genetically pure American Chestnut tree was nearly eliminated by this blight. So backcrossed hybrids and genetically modified varieties of the American Chestnut are exciting, because there's a hope they could return to their former glory in the ecosystem.

This particular tree is a large specimen of genetically pure American Chestnut, growing in the east coast region as well, so a great find for conservation.

In all, hybrids may be great for individuals, but this movement intends to be more selective for restoration purposes.

Why stop at trees? I imagine you could do an alternate reality app for landscaping that shows you what your landscape "could look like". Including flower beds, ground cover alternatives to grass, etc.

Saw that video recently as well. What's remarkable about this find is the size of the specimen, and that it's confirmed to be 100% American Chestnut. Hopefully with the hybrid approach, this find, and further breeding/propagation work, we can see a large scale return of this incredible species.

Soy milk is hundreds of years old. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that the hormone drop is caused by soy milk. American bison digest far better than cows and don't produce methane. What is natural about millions of cows in factories producing milk? Additionally these cows are being fed enormous amounts of gmo monocrops in order to produce. Almond milk is indeed a wasteful product, but the misallocation of scarce water due to regulation is not the same thing as greenhouse gases.

As an American, I tend to think we have a sort of permanent linguistic hyperinflation. Everything here is always bigger, huger. Sometimes it's true and sometimes it's not.

Part of the strength of the nation, however, is that everything is a big deal, all the time. This causes things to (eventually) get dealt with.

I think it's safe to assume that federal taxes aren't going anywhere. Likewise, I think it's very unlikely that suburban communities receive income taxing authority. Given those, I think the general prediction of American towns "going broke" in the sense of being unsustainable is true.

I don't think it's entirely clear that the US/Europe has the appetite to go to war over the use of a tactical nuke.

As a counter question: why do men not recognize that these simple tasks make women feel loved and respected?

My own father is the perfect example of a man who cannot deal with these minor irritations. My mother complies with his requests and their relationship is maintained.

If you read the article, it's not that the irritation is minor. Of course it's a very small task. The issue is that the (often male) partner never chooses to act differently for the sake of their partner. If it isn't difficult to do the task, why don't you just do it? If your wife asks you to put the dishes in the dishwasher, why don't you just do it? It's not hard and will make her happy.

Obviously some people will have very unreasonable standards/requests. However, I think it's more common that one partner repeatedly refuses to do anything differently for the sake of their partner, argues about it, and then wonders why their relationship is so bad.
