No idea. Maybe Lenovo includes purchasing power in the price calculation for some reason, such as making more money in the U.S. while gaining market share here in Czechia, where purchasing power is lower. Apple may be able to afford not to do that.

The Acers of the world can sleep well. The price of Neo in my country is about $810. Two months ago I purchased a brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 with an AMD 7533HS CPU, 14" OLED display, 32 GB DDR5 and 1 TB SSD for about $860. And it also has an unibody metal case. This Lenovo offers much better value for almost the same price, and you can install Linux on it.

For all those people complaining about it being e-waste: With such a relatively long battery life, you will probably lose/misplace the charging cable anyway, and that cable is probably more e-waste than the ring itself.

Giving Ukraine all the weapons it needed and asked for, instead of destroying them soon, would be a good start. Also, you know, not forbidding Ukraine to use its long-range drones to damage Russia's oil industry would also be helpful. This is to get started. I can continue.

Yes, it can, and pretty well. In fact, it's my favorite feature and the reason I still wear my Pebble 24 hours a day - reliable alarms and notifications.

Such great news. I still wear the OG Kickastarter Edition every day, years after the battery on my 2nd Pebble, the Time, died. I even still sync my old iPad to it to at least keep the time in sync.

So what? It's a complex problem, and they're making progress. Why is it always only Tesla that has to be held accountable for all promises? Other companies often promise great things (with deadlines!), don't keep their promises, but for some strange reason no one cares.

Every time there is an article about Tesla, the vast majority of comments here are either too critical, too ignorant, or just FUD. It's too unbalanced, no other company (good or bad) gets such bad treatment here. I see many of the HN audience here are just repeating the media narrative without their own experience or even trying to understand the topic. Yes, Tesla is moving at the forefront of EV development, and yes, sometimes not everything is delivered as promised or on time. But on the other hand, this is HN, we're supposed to love new technology and engineering! Why so negative? It's pathetic.

I'm using a relatively cheap (68EUR) TFA Dostmann AirControl Mini CO2 Meter (also available from different brands as well) based on ZyAura platform. I soldered a connector to connect it to an ESP8266 board flashed with ESPHome software [1] and then send measurements to the Home Assistant instance.

This system works well, the sensor is on my desk, the CO2 drops quickly below 600 ppm when the window is open, but then immediately returns to above 800 ppm shortly after the window is closed. For example, I currently have 982 ppm.

At night, with 2 people sleeping in the room, the level often rises to 2500 ppm. So even though I ventilate the house much more often than I did before I bought the sensor, it's still not enough to maintain healthy CO2 levels, and with the current energy prices and cold weather, I don't know what else I can do, I have no space to install heat recovery ventilation.

People jump back and forth between Vue and Svelte (or another JS framework of the year), while Aurelia quietly does its job without too much hype.

There is so much to tell, I will mention only a few key points for the each field.

Software: self driving capabilities (i.e. autopilot), FSD (Full Self Driving) beta, shadow-mode neural net testing, OTA (Over The Air) updates, games and entertaiment, Autobidder energy trading platform, etc. Battery: tabless design, dry electrode, new 4680 form-factor, nickel instead of cobalt, manufacturing and cost improvements, etc. Electronics: efficient motors and inverters, custom ASIC chip for FSD computer, Dojo supercomputer, etc. Mechanical engineering: "octovalve" thermal management, structural battery pack without modules, "mega casting" aluminium body design, etc.

Edit: forgot to mention supercharger network.

I don't mind to pay extra $30 if next version of the PC will have a M2 port, even USB routed, full-size HDMI, and combined audio/composite video port, same as on RPi A/B boards. Separate DAC could make nice addition. Hope that Raspberry Pi Foundation will listen to people's needs.

My biggest disappointment is that they did not put enough effort into designing a PCB except to "unfold" the existing RPI4 one. The biggest drawback is the micro-HDMI ports instead of the full size one. Even with space constrains a lot of people would prefer one full-size HDMI port instead of 2 micro. My other wishes are compute module, M2 socket and RTC on the board, but obliously driving cost down prevented this.
