@jrnkntl I can also recommend icloud.com/mobile for the iPad. It's Read-only but it feels really nice. You can upload using Drop-on-Window using Chrome or Firefox.
Some of the information is this article is new for me. I know it's i wikipedia, but the following facts in the Degenerate Era:
* Formation or new stars ceases. Stars cease to fuse.

Have they been established as real facts? As far as I know dying stars go Supernova and allow new stars to be born, thus repeating the full cycle.

Yes it is very impressive, conceptually and technically.
But the finance section is WAY off... Which makes me doubt the rest of the material in which I have less experience.
Considering that colony/station should be created mainly from resources on the moon (very smart), the cost for 10,000 construction workers over 27 years would be according to him:
"10 000 x $34 130 x 27 =$9 215 100 000"
Try negotiating that low salary with someone that is supposed to work on the moon/in space and not get a pay that is inflation adjusted or never get a pay raise EVER for that matter...
I would hate to be one of the guys working at that project...
Otherwise good stuff, although the habitat cells should be square shaped to fully utilize the living space, I mean who needs 6+ meter in room height...
How would they go about with creating a sufficient genpool so that the species can reproduce itself successfully... or for that matter how would we go about to teach the animals how to reproduce? Are they to live among animals or similar character while they are young?

It seems that they recently added features for social interaction between the users. So they are either moving more towards being a social network or doing some kind of mix between a web desktop and social community... The sharing features are understandably quite interesting in this aspect...

Looking beyond the marketing, the product definitely seems interesting. It has loads of potential and the basic applications, such as the desktop and the document explorer are quite good.
As a developer, looking at the software (written in XML), it seems like a huge advantage to write something in one language and then having it simply just work on all (supported) platforms. The source code for all applications is COMPLETELY VISIBLE XML and it seems that the service can use external webservices.
As a user there are I have to that it would feel very nice to have my apps patched directly without any additional downloads and to always have the latest features.
Any thoughts about interesting applications that could be useful for the service? They seem to have the documentation in place to experiment...

I definitively believe that there is a future for webb apps. Looking at icloud.com, a "web os", you'll find that there is a potential for many apps to migrate to the web.
We have seen that browsers are getting better at rendering JS, i.e. Google Chrome and Firefox 3.1, meanwhile functionality such as Canvas introduces possibilities of creating more elaborate apps that might require photo editing etc.
Never really was fond of the idea of a people search engine. Albeit facebook has become one, but at least that's a search engine where you are actively taking part of supplying them with data.
As a science experiment fine (indexing etc), but commercially it just freaks me out.
