Mistakenly we thought that by just introducing artificial intelligence and ingesting the design requirements that we had, that that would produce a high-quality product.
Clearly a lot of careful thought went into their strategy of using AI and firing engineers.
I think people are reading it as a request every 0.8s that takes 1s to process, instead of 0.8 requests per second.
Not sure what to term this as it's an acqui-hire without the acquire, but why did Anthropic want to poach most of Zulip/Kandra's team?
I don't know what the Y-axis is supposed to be on that Wharton AI capabilities graph, but I am not really convinced that Opus 4.6 has more than double the intelligence/capability/whatever of GPT 5.1 Max.

C Header 779 100979 57715 29459 13805I am, I have an Nvidia 5070 Ti, Aurora for my OS (from the same people as bazzite, but I'm a light gamer so I'm fine using flatpak steam/heroic/etc). the only problems I've faced are
- occasionally an online game breaks and it's usually fixed within a day or two. for example at some point a Battle.net update broke the launcher under Wine some time last year, then for a while Overwatch would intermittently crash once every few sessions. I haven't gamed on Windows in years so I can't even compare anecdotally, but I suspect Windows is probably slightly more stable with live service games. I've never had any issues with a single player game, period. (YMMV)
- DX12 performance is 10-20% worse on Nvidia. This should be improved Soon (TM) - I think the last piece is https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton/tree/descr...
- Some anticheats block Linux - the only times I've switched over to windows in the last year have been when some friends wanted me to play Marathon with them
- Running 'sidecars' alongside your games or modding works but is generally more of a hassle with wine
things I didn't expect to work but do:
- Game streaming with Sunlight works fine to Samsung TV via the TizenOS Moonlight app
- Nvidia had suspend issues for a year but those have all been sorted out the last few months

Same reason the livestream mentioned jobs about a dozen times in the 10 minutes I watched, NASA is in a fraught position and this is their way of fighting for some continued funding. A 'mass media' event captures more attention than a minimalist stream of chatter. (And a less cynical interpretation is also that getting the public interested in and engaged with space missions is part of their mandate.)

Note that normal maps are still widely used in PBR workflows. The article doesn't mention them, but older renderers tended to use diffuse, specular, normal maps, and modern asset creation typically involves albedo, roughness/smoothness, metalness, and ambient occlusion maps in addition to normal maps for textures.

Does anyone know if there are any sorts of optimizations (either internally or available to the user) for a table with a UIIDv7 PK and a `date_created` column?
I know you can export directly to the backend, but the collector typically uses less than 50MB of RAM in my experience (even when handling lots of traces) and it's pretty easy to add sidecars to however you deploy your backends nowadays. Using Grafana SaaS metrics could look a little spiky or generally weirder without the collector, but normal with it, so I just default to using it now.
It's the shame the docs on it are still quite bad. The example config in the article here does look almost identical to the one we use everywhere, just without the redact, and should probably be pasted somewhere into the official docs.
Every provider seems to produce their own soft fork of the collector for branding (eg Alloy, ADOT, etc) and slightly changes the configuration, which doesn't help.
I hate getting that 'is this LLM output?' feeling halfway through so many articles these days. The article is good but sentences like "This wasn't a minor limitation; it was a fundamental capability gap." are painful to read.
Currently, logs and traces live in separate worlds. You can see that a trace has an error, and you can see related logs, but you can't query them together.
I've looked into SigNoz a few times but still using Grafana. The former does look promising, and features like this would start to make the case for maybe switching.
(and to be clear, podman 5.0 changed the default from slirp4netns to passt/pasta in 5.0)
Also on Ubuntu 25.04, which I updated a homeserver too despite it not being LTS just for the easy access to Podman 5. Once Ubuntu 26.04 comes out the pain described by some sibling comments should end. Podman 4 is a workable version but 5.0 is where I'd say it really became a complete replacement for Docker and quadlets fully matured.
