I am older and seen a lot of tech come and go. RISC-V feels to me like something that will be huge.

There is so much momentum already. Not many things catch on that quick. But when they do they end up huge.

Big difference is Android on ChromeOS is using the Linux kernel that is part of ChromeOS. Here Android will be on top of Zircon. Which is the fuchsia kernel.

Now gnu/linux on ChromeOS is using a completely different Linux kernel.

It was important Google did it this way so gnu/Linux would still work when they update ChromeOS to Fuchsia. Google already has Gnu/linux running on fuchsia with something called Machina.

One things that is not talked about a lot is parallelism in terms of kernel and I/O.

There is the aspects of an application but what about system code?

If read the FlexSC paper and using multiple cores you can see some pretty incredible improvements are possible.

We should also see some of this with Zircon as it gets further along and looks to leverage cores in a type of pipelining.

I believe this is similar to what we will see with Zircon as a default.

Why I believe multi core performance with Zircon will exceed the same with Linux. The big question is single core?

You do not have the benefit. But I do think Google will do their own CPU optimized for Zircon. Do hope they use RISC-V for the ISA. They did with the PVC.

Really can't do a directly comparison but we can look at cost doing a similar task.

DAWNBench does benchmarks.

Been following along with the development of Zircon.

I am old an worked with internals for decades and this is the most excited I have been about a kernel in a very long time.

Looks to me the layers of Fuchsia are going to also be ala cart.

So Flutter on multiple platforms. Zircon able to be used for a variety of purposes and then in addition the kernel for Fuchsia.

Yes but not following how that relates to "poorly managed"?

I mean they are in all of history the fastest to a $100B market cap and since started in 1998 it was right at the .com bust. Then the fastest to $200B.

Poorly managed? They have now grown over 20% the last ten quarters and now over 26% the last two. Since the beginning never declined for a quarter YoY. Even though the great recession.

That is pretty hard to do.
