Been there and done that, it is key to manage expectation with both companies AND yourself. Make sure every assignment is very well thought out and planned, try to minimize long meetings by doing more small ones asking stuff like : what was achieved yesterday, what will we achieve today, and do I need help from anyone?.

Make sure to get rest and definitely try to scale your operation and avoid moving work to weekends because it will get out of control very fast. I made the mistake of taking more than i could chew and had to let go one of my clients because I was so tired i couldn't keep the quality of my work just as I wanted to.

This holds true for Japanese companies outside Japan, my wife was working as a developer for TOTO Mexico and they had a lot of personnel rotation because of these differences, mainly the meeting culture, it would often get in the way of the work and people ended up quitting or getting fired. Yes, that's a thing but at this point imagine just how much more confusion it could create if they change the name.

After so many years microsoft finally presenting their tools in a more moden way. Never been a huge fan of .NET but i can't deny is a great tool hopefully people try it out on more platforms.

This, no intricate dependency management or whatever, you just pick what you need, import it and get stuff done.

I once was offered a position for Java, passed the technical tests and all, turns out the job was all using C# and .NET, thankfully i was skilled enough to get the hang of it in a few days but it was very weird; how can people like this get paid for such terrible performance.

I don't know of any (no exclusive to tx) but i am more of a Go guy than any other language, simply because it performs incredibly well. I wish more companies used it.

Vim, that's all i use and i like it, sometimes i use Sublime when i feel turbo-lazy.

But i despise windows for development in any stack that's not part of microsoft's. Maybe going with xterminals would do it for you?

Anything PDF or something like that on demand, have it generate the templates and whatnot instead of relying in write it all by hand with the technology that recquires me to do so.
