Redux came out, everyone fell in love with it

Not me.

This is the reason why I still enjoy to write in C, there is simply no need to change your entire codebase because some dude came up with a new "miracle".

I do full-stack javascript for my income, but have reached the point of not enjoying coding anymore because of this continuous change of ideas forced upon me. Why do I need to change from React.createClass to ES6 classes, from ESxx to Typescript or Flow, from React to Vue, from callbacks to Promises, from Flux to Redux, or from any idea to the next hyped idea?

When will people start to realise that this new method or technology they're implementing is deprecated already?

There is no end to this and I actually hate it as it destroys my passion for coding. I code to create things, not to continuously change what's created already and works fine.

As soon as I find a cool C job I'll definitely leave this mad house.

I totally disagree. It is not the web or www that is hostile but many websites and services out there.

I think no one will go back to the old web, although I agree it was an epic experience back then. For me it is totally logical that many people try to find a way to earn money on the internet, and in this economy there is in principle nothing wrong with that IMHO.

No one forces you to use Facebook, Google or any of the great services available. But people seem to forget that in life almost everything comes with a price. For Facebook and Google you pay with your (more or less private) data. So? If you think it's not a fair deal, simply don't use it! But please don't blame the entire web for that.

The web as it is now has soooo much more to offer than the old web that it is hard to even imagine! A few things I use that were impossible in the 90's, from the top of my head:

  listen music on youtube, learn and use any programming language for free, git, open source, read the latest news in online 
  newspapers from remote countries, buy tickets online, airbnb, online banking, broadcast on twitter, social networks, slack, 
  OS updates, World of Warcraft/games, crypto currencies, etc.. etc...

I use types.js (https://www.npmjs.com/package/types.js) dynamic type checker already for years in production without any issues. I simply don't want yet another JS syntax or transpiler only for type checking like Typescript, Flow etc.. For me that's way over the top.

I am a developer spending 10+ hours a day on my old macbook pro (2015 model). It is without doubt the best pc I've ever had. And I am treating it with even more care now.

I really don't want the new model as replacement, for more reasons. I don't expect Apple to recover from the loss of Steve Jobs, at least not in terms of quality. I see they are trying to remain a financial success.

Which laptop will be an improvement compared to the one I have now? I don't want Windows, but a Linux distro would be great if the OS happened be as robust as OSX in all respects. I tried Arch, Ubuntu flavours, etc.. none of them compare in many ways. I actually never had a touchpad on any other laptop that behaved as smooth as the mbp one for example.
