American public schools? Since when? All I remember is “they threw tea in the harbor because taxes were so bad” and “George Washington just wanted everyone to finally have freedom”. Yes they teach about slavery and Chinese labor, but I’m talking about the founding myth specifically.

Wow I’ve never seen someone else in the wild talk about this, it’s like a collective psychosis. Every time I hear “the founding fathers would be turning in their grave if they saw this corruption” I roll my eyes. The MO since the beginning has been propaganda and war.
You must not be American?
Bet we’re less than 5 years from that tbh
Exactly right, and same for society in general. There’s a degree to which humans work okay in their primitive state (hunter-gatherers, small homogenous communities), but once scaling and technology enters the picture we’re 100% toast without a fundamental recalibration towards genuinely caring for one another.
Not sure if the cause but there’s this overarching absolute neglect of UX. Maybe they’re all just trying to grab as much market share as humanly possible, but imo it seems more likely they’ll lose each segment to products that actually make sure the experience isn’t absolute dog shit.
So annoying having to virtue signal to the machine before it’ll tell me factual information
Why, is there some hidden downside to living by a data center? Northern VA real estate is super pricey but they’ve got tons of them
What’s AstroCMS?
This is an actual dream come true
Can you not cold call, or is the LTV too low?
The message from Warren Buffett is also an ad for Geico lol
“WE WANT TO DO THINGS THE HARD WAY AND WE WON’T BUDGE”
Like Rich Harris said in a Svelte talk once: “frameworks are for organizing your mind”. As far as I can tell, the same is true for LLMs
IMO the only solution is to just upvote things if they’re interesting or useful and downvote them if they’re not
Board finally realized people can just do this themselves with FTP/SVN/rsync and curlftpfs
Disagree. Many less interesting things than a large functioning modern collective get millions of views.
Different products can target different segments of the market. The question is just whether this one is large enough to support something like the AVP
This deserves a lot more attention, imo. It seems like most/everything is moving to the terminal natively (maybe w a visual layer on top) so you can use the same local agent and local files for everything (ie claude code being able to access everything about your life, but also being easily swapped out for or used alongside codex). I’ve been avoiding diving into my finances so I’m gonna try this out, thanks!
The most recent video I could find about this was from like 7 years ago, very weird
You should look up how the rest of Britain’s colonies got independence :)
Shhh if you say too much you’re gonna rattle their “the government will save us if we vote hard enough” worldview
What is this “just world” of which you speak?
Big fan of the note up front about how long they’ve been working on it, feel like we’ll be seeing a lot more of that as an anti-slop signal
Besides the Suits connection?
You’d need some shared ethical/moral framework to make that claim, which doesn’t really seem to exist anymore
I just mean that the argument that words like “instructions”, “think”, “confess” are inaccurate when used in reference to a machine assumes that those words can only refer to humans/conscious beings, when really they can refer to more than that if used widely enough in those ways (in this case - text prediction following a human input). So it’s not “anthropomorphizing” because when people use those words they don’t [typically] actually believe the machine can think or reason, it’s just the word that most closely matches the concept, it’s convenient. You’re extending the definition of the words to apply to non-conscious entities too, not applying consciousness to the entities.
It’s the same reason we call the handheld device we carry around to do everything a “phone” without a second thought. We don’t call it a phone because it’s primary purpose is calling, we call it a phone because the definition of the word “phone” has grown to include “navigates, entertains, takes pictures, etc”.
That’s not how language works, just how engineers think it works
The point of the post was to warn other people building with agents, especially using Cursor or Railway, not a public reflection
He’s not necessarily anthropomorphizing it, he’s showing that it went against every instruction he gave it. Sure concepts like “confession” technically require a conscious mind, but I think at this point we all know what someone means when they use them to describe LLM behavior (see also “think”, “say”, “lie” etc)
That is really really cool
And I think you’re right that AI will give a lot of people the push they’ve needed to get back to real life, even if at the same time it pulls a majority of people further into the matrix
