CodeMirror 6 5 years ago

Take a look at draftjs, it’s an alternative built by facebook (I’m not affiliated with Facebook in any way)

Indeed there was a confusion, it was ProseMirror. To be more specific about my use-case, I wanted to build a text editor for a forum which allows to embed images and videos directly in the editing zone, in between paragraphs of the text. It’s a rather advanced thing to do for a text editor, and the solution took me several hundred of line of code with draftjs, but it was quite easy to achieve because draftjs api is very solid. Initially with ProseMirror it was a lot of struggling, and couldn’t find a way to do it . I also tried Quilljs, but wasn’t satisfied with it either.

If you want a serious paid alternative, there is graphcomment.com, the design is very neat, the team is very responsive to their user base. It’s still a human sized company. (Disclaimer: have been working for that company in the past)

I tried codemirror and draftjs. Draftjs was actually much better than codemirror, the api for the former is so difficult to deal with, the latter was a bliss.

Pitch (from Berlin) is using Clojure as well as Reagent with React. From what I saw it's quite a moderately sized app (not a gigantic one, but not a side-project sized either, in between that's what I mean).

Reading Reddit comments will feels like hell if you’re right winging. You described it pretty well, it’s all about displaying a strong sense of moral, which at the end is translated into a false sense of superiority. « Look at me, I am a good person! »

TailwindCSS v2.0 6 years ago

While it may seems like a great idea, I just finished a project for a client on Tailwind.

First of all it's not free, to use UI components it would cost many hundreds of dollars.

But maybe cost is not an issue for all, on the other hand productivity might be.

I found myself terribly less productive, having many classes like:

  <div class="mt-8 mx-4 flex flex-col items-center font-medium text-base ..."
it's very hard to add or remove a rule compared to CSS where each rule is on it's own line.

Also some pretty significant issue for me was hot-reloading taking a lot of time, whereas in CSS you can just refresh linked stylesheet, with tailwind you need to reload complete page, and if your page is hosted on a Django/Symfony/RoR application in development mode, you better have to be patient at each CSS modification !

I identify a lot with parent comment. Had a lot of chronic pain resulting in very intense and sharp pain near the nose, I really thought it was linked to sinus cavities being inflamed.

At the end it was very linked to my mental state, it took me half a decade to figure it. As parent comment is suggesting, slow breathing to remove tensions near your rib cage can help.

The most useful tool for me is to smoke cannabis, I then identify pain points in my body and massaging them with my hand vigorously is effective. Hope it can help people having « the same kind » of chronic pain.

How machiavelic it is to think everything is revolving around power. I haven’t read Foucault but I tend to think I’m more enclined towards other values, like morale for example.
