I was forced to do this as a developer of Flash websites in the early 00's.

You can still spend the money. But you don't need to show off in front of the people you are stealing the money from.

There are a bunch of accounting firms, law firms, and consulting agencies that don't allow their employees to wear super expensive clothing, jewelry or drive luxury cars in front of their clients. And they aren't even doing anything illegal.

I've already spent HOURS in Midjourney generating hundreds of images just to get the perfect cyborg robot elf. I just want to use that work and upload the best of those images into the character creator, rather than hoping the prompt gets me something close to the character I want and waiting 20 minutes to find out.

I can't believe we are blaming this ENTIRELY on drivers... with people in the comments even claiming that the quality of drivers has gone done because work from home has put more poor people on the road.

Just look at the pedestrians you pass on your next drive. Count how many of them are looking at their phone while walking. I just did this and it was 4/10. I think Pedestrian behavior and awareness *might be a little different than it was 40 years ago as well.

I'm in a similar mode.

But what no one thinks about is how much the productivity we lose from wasting time on Reddit is costing us. If I cut out my Reddit use (while just at work), and replaced that with actual work.... I could easily make $3,000 to $4,000 dollars more a year.

And I am not particularly well paid. I don't make 6 figures, so that amount of money is a pretty huge deal for me.

But still our brains think in terms more like.... well I'd pay $25 for this one time, but I won't pay $5 per month because that's just TOO MUCH.

It seems like the photographer here is pretty happy about her copyright.

I love SCI-FI thinking about a world without copyright or patent protections, to wonder what it would be like for humanity after a couple centuries. But I can't help but feel artists not getting credit for their work, would at least hurt them on the individual level.
