I have a theory about large (and well known) cooperation reguarding brands.

Google re-branded themseleve just last year (before the Alphabet switch over). People hated the new typeface etc, etc. but that doesn't stop anyone from using Gmail or Google search.

Point being, when you get to a certain size it really don't matter if you use comic san for your corporate type face. That's not going to change the public perception of you the company.

All the brand work, rebranding etc etc are just a way to make the people within the company feel good about themselves.

Or worse, became in pawn in the Ad Wars between Google, Apple, and Facebook.

Let's face it, AdBlock on the Web only benefit closed network like Facebook, which also has plenty of PII. If the Web dies as as an Ad platform (because of AdBlockers), guess where the advertisers can go?

Off-topic slightly, but it's worth mentioning Louisa Lim, former NPR / BBC's China correspondent had recently published the book The People's Republic of Amnesia: Tiananmen Revisited. It's worth a read.

It covered the current state of political life in China from 1989 ~ now. The whole concept of "1984 in China" is very much a topic talked about in the book. In the book it mentioned there was a case where regional government authorities forced the public to go back to work and school on Sat. and Sunday as a way to prevent crowd to gather for a weekend protest. It's rather fascinating.

Indeed. And the irony, is, the real hipsters already move beyond their vintage typewriters, and Lomo camera. What the promotion video just shows us some cliches what the team think is cool. Not me.

Tom Clancy can be somewhat spot on with "predicting" the future of Geopolitics. In the 2006 Ghost Recon game: Advanced Warfighter (took place in 2013) was about heavy US entanglement in Mexico. Mexican mafia are getting pretty strong these days in RL....

This seems like a great supplement for folks couldn't get to go to WWDC because it was sold out.... WWDC on Tour basically....

The new design language speaks "banking" to me.

At one point I was mistaken the site for the American Express site which shares very similar color palette.

The design also "feel" very Square (payment system) like to me.

I am surprised this rebranding effort hasn't touch the brand mark logo yet...

I once had an opportunity to present to Mr. Moritz (just last year). He adores the idea of entrepreneurship, and idolize great entrepreneur in general.

He was friendly, and very, very nice to our team. Gave us some ideas on what we should work on as well. He's one of the top tier person in the valley I feel completely comfortable talking to, and not feeling intimidated at all.

I wish him well, and I hope he stays involve.

I think team dinning is important, but going to lunch as a group (or the group has a fav. place for take out) usually is a much better option.

Our little story of AdMob is this:

There's this Teriyaki take out place at downtown San Mateo. We affectionately call it the "Cornerteri" since it locate at the corner of 4th and San Mateo Dr. Ask any x-AdMob about Cornerteri and they'll know about this place... That's how you build a company culture.

Thanks. Nice. But since Big. G. is heavily pushing ICS, they should really put the ICS files up there.

Am I missing something? I'd like to get my hands on the templates, mocks, wirefames, etc. Let me play with those (as a designer) and I'll be able to better follow the specs and guidelines.

Note: Microsoft (for once) actually one-up Big G. here. They provide the PSD and fonts for Windows Phone 7 on MSDN + the UX Guidelines.

Also, for Apple, 3rd party made all the PSD and templates for them...

Jobs did task himself to make / fix icons with the original Macintosh launch. Fairly well documented he had a hand in everything.

Good portfolio except it's a bit too Web centric. Apps, Mobile interaction should be a part of it if this person is serious about working at Instagram.
