OP was asking why the attention now though specifically. I'm not calling it quackery, etc.

Yes, because the folks waiting slack-jawed for the monkeys to finish will no longer have the skills or discernment to know what Shakespeare looks like.
...and goods produced overseas would need to be heavily tariffed. But that was roundly criticized so where does that leave us?
Same here, and - while not trying to troll - the people I know who loudly proclaim how they keep hitting their limits are the ones who also seem to be blindly trying things through trial and error. A lot of wheel spinning, etc.
I agree and feel same. Doubly so since after 100+ years it's now more expensive and difficult to build a custom home? Seems off.
Yeah right? I used to live in nicer/upper area and like everybody got help from their parents for house, if not outright given to them.
They may not be a majority, but if kinder souls decide to leave for a more welcoming community
Given the context, you mean Rust? Nothing against Rust folks but I wouldn't really call it more welcoming community.
It's agents all the way down~!
People who say this gloss over the horrific fire bombing of Tokyo, etc (so bad B-29 crews could smell the bodies burning from thousands of feet above...). Hiroshima and Nagasaki were no worse than that.
Please tell me this was not interview for a SaaS CRUD app role
No no, see those are all softball questions, and the only way to prove they are not coasting fakers or liars is to quiz them like this. /s
I'm baffled at how US performs poorly for their people given they have abundant energy. Norway and Iceland also have abundant energy and their people are seeing the benefits.
It's just a totally different scale of comparison that does not work - those Nordic countries are smaller than many counties in US states. It's like comparing Iceland to Santa Barbara, etc.
The folks I know who attempt to 'treat' themselves with substances generally just get worse. That's not a judgement, just an observation.
One nice thing about the rise of ORMs back in the day was it broke the stranglehold our traditional DBAs had on the data tier. I respected them and their skills, but in a product org it was really difficult to have a separate group that refused to participate in planning and wanted to design everything up front, optimize based on their performance assumptions, and then who would argue with devs when we'd need to do pretty normal things like, say, list users in a webapp.
I'm talking about my experience, not generalizing to all DBAs of course. And of course ORMs introduced performance issues, etc.
Yes, but the subtle issue I've seen in companies is "MVP" easily ends up interpreted as: "add this one small thing since it's quick and easy to implement". Then before they know it you've got this mousetrap-like product that goes in all sorts of directions.
Whether the earth is round
I honestly think a lot of the flat earther types in particular are basically trolls and/or enjoy being stubborn/argue about common knowledge, for no other reason because they can.
Because it's not continuous sound in one spot like a leaf blower is.
We can't leave money on the table for all those below average prices - so let's raise them all to the average... oh wait
Agreed, but it feels like a Pyrrhic victory to not cheat, then get lower scores than the cheaters.
Being Catholic helps too
The "underlying issues" are not all moral failings as you hint. In my case, as I've aged my appetite due blood sugar/insulin resistance/etc means I'm basically hungry all the time if I restrict calories to maintain lower body weight. Yes - even if I exercise frequently. Yes - even with healthy food and snacks. My wife tells me my stomach is growling at night.
I will slowly gain about 10-15lbs a year due to excess calories if I try to maintain weight at < overweight BMI. GLP-1 drugs have been great to take that edge off.
Sure, but baseball has things like walking a batter so they can't hit. Not totally analogous here, but every sport has things like this.
Money always sprouts double standards out of everyone and anyone's ass
Feel I should mention the Istro-Romanians (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Istro-Romanians), a small group of Romanian speakers who settled in Istria (now Croatia) some centuries ago. Mostly gone now but one grandmother was from one of the Romanian speaking villages.
Yeah all the "10x CEO" types would lose their minds if someone was bossing them around or micromanaging like they tend to.
Agreed that Zuck is not very impressive, but what would another CEO do differently at this point? It's got a ton of money, and they are trying this and that. But the market wouldn't let them sit on a bunch of money either.
Would you like them
in a house?
Would you like them
with a mouse?
Fair enough, but the vast majority companies that interview like this would be totally fine with the brightest 1 of 100, if not the top 20 of 100.
I'd rather that than leet code dancing around: "It's not an IQ test, since those are bad, but this is okay though!"
