Sorry to be blunt, but you have no idea how "Targeting" works on Advertising/Telephone co.

When Verizon/Att/Tmo/etc sells your information to Advertising companies, they will "infer" your identity. They do not care if phone SIM have your ID associated. That ID is built from traffic.

If they see DNS requests to real state sites, they may put you in a bucket that says "high income", if they see searches (via DNS hijack to when you search by your addressbar like tmo does) for things like fastfood breakfast delivery, up in the "low income" bucket you go. Also, it will always have your Phone number.

Then those Advertising companies "enrich" this data with data from google or others, and can pin point you by email plus all the correlated data. Happy that you have facebook two factor auth to your SMS now?

It shocks me that people in this forum are completely oblivious to Tracking and think that the aborted "think of the children" law that requires you present an ID to buy a phone line has any importance...

So, to conclude, the traffic here is observed by the proxing entity, by the tel co, etc.

not talking about tax+shipping here. but even on alibaba.com those boards sell for $50. unless you buy 1000s

on dealextreme it's a little more than 50 (but they include shipping in the price)

tomorrow: handcuff manufacturers call the DMCA over reverse engineering and subsequent pirating of their keys copyright.

everyone with a key is considered suspect. EFF suggest you walk around with several keys to your neighbors houses to enable a doubt defense.

Feds waste millions of tax dollars on 3D printers crackdowns trhu the country, since they can't be used for anything else other than pirating handcuffs keys copyrighted material. Seizes thingverse servers and demand CEO extradition.

$50 is the minimum price those things go for if you buy in quantity.

resellers for low quantity either will charge way more ($70~$99) or will ship from china and it will take weeks~months to get it.

but my monitor does not have the real DPI the label on it's back says... configuring by DPI is moot.

i read a little more on the link you provided... and the closest to the gimp old way of doing that is putting the width and height of the viable area of the monitor in mm. think that might work rather well if it's correctly implemented.

The point about neighbors is moot.

i hate all of mine. But the hotels have nothing against them. so i will have to live with them. that's life.

If you could choose neighbors... the world would be very empty because everyone would be living alone.

This reminds me when everyone was driving drunk, and there was already laws that made that illegal, but the limit was something like 3 glasses of beer.

instead of simply enforcing it, they changed the law to be zero limit AND enforced it.

this is the same idiocy.

trashing a place is already illegal. Disturbing the peace is already illegal. Reducing your neighbor property value is already illegal (our intern complains he keep getting citations for not cutting the grass ...a $300 fine)

Name ONE thing this law does that wasn't illegal before. ONE. I challenge you.

DIY B&B 14 years ago

i think that was illegal BEFORE that law...

may i interest you in some Bear Patrol Tax?

At least they won't get fat! Those grandparents...

Gimp had the only cheap effective, backward compatible solution:

There was a setting that showed a ruler in the screen, you could scale it to match a ruler you were holding against the screen.

It disappeared after a while...

i was fighting with the same thing the other day... then i realized, i do not look at my 24" monitor at the same distance then i look at my 4" phone screen.

So, which size should the font be if i'm designing for both those screens? pt sure isn't the answer.

this being only tangentially related to the topic :) so, back on topic, yes, i wholeheartedly agree that pt should mean what it mean. it's just retarded that it's not. and you are not even accounting for TVs which cut random portions of the displayed image for no reason, making this even harder to calculate the real dpi.

ctrl+f,bar,esc,ctrl+shift+right,foo

i think it's easier to grab the mouse, dlb click bar, foo

with vim, it's still easier than grabbing the mouse. that's the litmus test of text editor interface effectiveness. the mouse is awesome, hard to beat. so if your editor beats it, game on!
