A few days ago, a Nautilus article about why researchers produce less disruptive work as they age was trending here on HN.

I was already writing about a related idea, so I figured I’d share it. The short version is that learning makes us better, but it also makes some ideas harder to reach. That’s why I try to write down my naive thoughts before I learn enough to stop having them.

This is my first blog post. Hope you enjoy it.

I'd hate it if they knew of the problem that long ago and didn't warn until now. If someone has more info and can clarify I'd be thankful.

I think you miss the point. How would you feel if you had a Ferrari with a noticeable scratch? Yes, it is great to have such a nice car, but it'd be a pity. So much much effort was put into the whole thing and this little detail is what lingers on your mind.

So, you want a title that is 5 lines long? It’s a fair criticism, but maybe it’s just too difficult to summarize in a title.

They are very different.

In scenario A, the labor of watching the kids is untaxed.

In Scenario B is Avery watches many kids and the effort per kid is reduced, but you get taxed.

The card is so impressive that it doesn’t matter much, but I think that if you remove half of the text in that card and make it very legible it would burn your name into people’s brain.

For the most part I agree, but the purpose of a business card is to be read. You can barely read that text.

Amazing project, but the font on the back of the card is gross.

My only complaint is that the leaf arrived, but they didn't stamp it. I can't prove to people that it was actually mailed.

They also allow you to mail Sea Grape leaves as if they were postcards. I did it many times, and here's an old post I found that also confirms it.

If this was a public company I would put my tin foil hat and believe that it's a quick buck scheme to boost CEO pay. A short sighted action that is not in the shareholders interest. But I guess that's not the case? Who knows...

If you offer a service, you have some responsibility towards your users. One of those responsibilities is to give enough notice about changes. IMO, this change doesn't provide enough notice. Why not making it a year, or at least a couple of months? Probably because they don't want people to have enough notice to force their hand.

Maybe you're right, but we'll never know. It would be great if they allowed some sections to develop so we can test it out. To me it is a desirable location because of the companies, not the lifestyle.

They are probably removing the best 10%, the ones that can find other jobs. I’ve seen it at my previous job.

I had a baby. Months later, UH retroactively denied all birth and baby care claims. They claimed I had other insurance, which I don’t. Now I get to prove a negative. So fun.

There's people burned to death all over the US. Most of them were murdered by negligent road engineers.

We already have that. You get a big deduction for one of your houses if you live in it.

That doesn’t mean we have a market. I was billed $1000 for en ECG for example. I wouldn’t have paid for it. It’s a simple procedure that doesn’t require a genius or advanced equipment. I’d rather an immigrant with a foreign degree look at it for $80 than a licensed American doctor for $1000. I’m not allowed to do so. I can’t choose the quality of care I get.

There are insane controls on supply. It’s not a free market. Everyone has to choose a Ferrari treatment or not go to the doctor. There’s no budget option.

The AMA issue is not new. In “capitalism and freedom” 1962, Milton Friedman wrote that it will turn into a cartel, then it did.

God points but:

1) For someone in BigCo it is fun to read.

2) BigCo is not a bad place for most people. Management should just shut up about efficiency and data driven. No one believes them, not even themselves.

The article has good arguments for Nvidia losing market share, not losing supremacy. The title is mostly clickbait.

I remember going on a road trip through Arizona and seeing a lot of farms using sprinklers. This result doesn’t surprise me.
