While I was in undergrad, I volunteered at SPD’s warehouse in Berkeley for a summer. Although I enjoyed my time there, and I learned a lot about non-profits, publishing and more, I found it be a very strange, tense, and awkward place to work. And cliquey. I did not feel welcome, seen or accepted. Kind of like the Bay Area at large over the past decade or more (and I speak as a regional native).

Nice work, but I am surprised that you would charge people money to use this, and I imagine that it will be promptly shut down by Google.

idk why you got downvoted. But I do too. I think it’s because of the band Joan of Arc - they use “live” in that way in a couple of their records’ titles.

I think YouTube locked down their APIs after the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

The TechCrunch article’s real title seems to be more descriptive: “Cruise-founder and CEO Kyle Vogt resigns”

It seems to me like Meta’s marketing harms everybody who uses their products… it’s not specifically kids.

What’s stopping parents from allowing their kids to use Meta’s products?

I switched to yogurt. I like eating Greek yogurt (lately Fage 0% fat) with blueberries, granola, hemp seeds, and chia seeds. It seems like the adult version of breakfast cereal to me.

The author’s point about Threads’ privacy/data usage seems moot. Presumably they already use Instagram, and that app’s “Data Linked to You” section in the iOS App Store is comparable to Threads.

I thought that they made a good point about how the Threads screen that links to the privacy policies doesn’t highlight the links very well. But it seems to me that the average social media user probably doesn’t care and would gloss over it anyway.

I liked their suggestion that the App Store use a “privacy rating” feature.

Offices make it easier to control employees and their time.

I loved this map. Hours and hours of fun. Also this article was published in 2020.

Apple, known for supposedly delivering sleek products, launched in 2010 the iPhone 4, still under the tutelage of Steve Jobs. Within hours of release, users flooded the internet to complain about dropped connections and abrupt reductions in internet speed. The problem, according to Jobs, was with users holding the iPhone 4 with their left hand [8]. As this was a hardware issue, it was never really solved.

What do you think are the intended use cases of the operating system's proprietary audio-file-playing application?

Tangentially related: Do Mastodon instances display funny for anyone else's mobile browser? For me, the pages are always scrunched to the left, with a mostly empty side bar taking 10% of the right side of the screen. I'm using a 12 mini though, maybe not a popular surface?
