Its less about the model; elon is trying to make SpaceXAI a hyper scaler that also happens to have a good model. Grok is just the cherry on top of a powerful AI cluster that can also rent compute to its competitors, like aws.

Grok 4.5 14 days ago

I have a theory that xAI has one of the largest clusters but with far less traffic + tokens to process bc its less popular than its competition, and xAI can pass the savings on to the end user.

Did anyone else think it was strange how fast legitimate news orgs (cnn for example) integrated prediction markets into their businesses?

Disappointing that science came after cowork. Shows how their priorities are for profitability first and help humanity second.

Yeah, I don't understand the downvotes either.

I do -- meta's products are inherently addictive and the network effect is powerful, so people would rather cope and complain than take meaningful but inconvenient action. This is how zuck wins, every time.

I deleted my Meta account last year and haven't missed it.

Me too and so has most of my family.

People complain about meta all the time. Clearly, its a scumbag company.

There is only one way to make him hurt: boycott all meta products. Uninstall facebook, instagram, whatsapp.

Edit -- I am getting downvoted for this comment. I can't say I am surprised, most of you are too programmed to think for yourselves.

Damn, this might trigger a hoarding + buying frenzy, further driving up prices.

I have a macbook pro wit m1 pro and I was waiting for the mac mini m5 pro, but I might pull the trigger on the macbook pro m5 pro. Ugh.

Instead of cloning and installing dependencies, I spun up a throwaway VPS on Hetzner, cloned the repo there, and pointed Pi at it in read-only mode, with only file-reading tools enabled...

Good man, knows what he is doing.

FWIW, I only run ai cli tools on a hostinger vps, never on my personal device. Also allows me to run YOLO mode across the board. If I am working on a web project, then I use preview develop deploys for testing, so I do not even have to work on my machine. Its very fun workflow for experimentation. Still trying to work the kinks to make it easier.

I reported the repo to GitHub and the recruiter to LinkedIn. So far nothing has changed and the code is still up.

Come on, github...

The central clock dependency is cool, but I wonder is there were any problems with latency -- like does the centralized electrical impulse reach a train station 10km away and another one at 20km at the same time? Did they factor that in?

I worked in REITs. A REIT is a tax structure with 2 key features:

1. By law, they must pass through and distribute at least 90% of their taxable income to shareholders every year.

2. They pay 0% in corporate income taxes on the income they distribute, as long as they meet the 1st requirement.

xai is not even close on either. Terrible take. What they should have said -- xai is looking more like a hyper scaler, the aws for ai infra.

Not a fan of foldables, if I am honest. Just a personal opinion. I do not like the it feels in the pocket bc the device needs to double its thickness when folding over.

When a mobile device manufacturer (samsung, hauwei, now apple) makes a foldable, I get the impression they're running out of ideas with the "slate" form factor and are trying to stimulate sales.

Personally, I would want that R&D spend and innovation to go to more sustainable materials, longer lasting devices, and easily repairable parts to extend the devices useful life.

This concept in known as medical tourism. [1]

I was business admin student in college and my concentration was in entrepreneurship. Part of the program was a class were I had write a business plan and I chose medical tourism. This was back in 2006-ish. Even back then, there was trend where Americans would travel abroad for surgery, but cosmetic surgery was not that popular. Mostly people would go to India, bc the quality of care was high and orders of magnitude cheaper.

Good to know my entrepreneurial instinct was somewhat accurate.
