I, too, have little time for gaming. I love my Xbox Series X - together with Game Pass I have more games than I will ever be able to play. Things Just Work and load times are basically nonexistent, can jump straight in when I do have a short moment for some gaming. Game Pass Ultimate even lets me play on Chrome on my Mac and on my Android phone, although I rarely actually use it, it works pretty well.

This reminds me of the "Universe in a Nutshell" app which also attempts to visualise the various scales of the universe.

We've tried this several times - the napkin math seems sound at first but unfortunately the amount of patience and discipline required vastly exceeds what we could achieve in one afternoon. After multiple lego sorting sessions I realised we had turned what is supposed to be a creative and fun toy into a laborious chore, to the point that the kids dreaded the thought of spending another hour mindlessly sorting bricks into bags.

Over the years we've accumulated what I'd estimate to be more than a thousand dollars worth of lego bricks (based on the prices of the various sets). I'd readily pay the equivalent of two or three decent sets (or a typical game console) to unlock this latent replay value for myself and the kids.

I would spend significant money on a simple device that takes a bucket of arbitrarily mixed legos and sorts them by type, size and maybe colour. The main thing holding me back from reusing all the legos we have is the difficulty of finding the right pieces in the endless mess.

It might seem obvious, but this part is extremely important and can be very difficult to live by because it encourages (healthy) disagreement and conflict. "Strong opinions, weakly held" is explicitly _not_ about giving in to a majority opinion or because the opinion is coming from a position of higher authority. It's essentially the scientific method. It does not mean you should agree with other peoples' opinions just because they said it louder and/or more often than you did.

I've witnessed senior engineers and managers misunderstand this mantra and (mis)use it to punish ICs who disagreed with ideas of other more/tenured engineers but lacked evidence for being "better".

If you intend to use this framework as a value in your organisation, make sure you and everybody else understand what it means (_especially_ your engineering managers).

Does ProtonMail have a feature similar to the "full inbox encryption" [1] mailbox has? Also, there are some nice features in mailbox, like only allowing to send email to other servers which support encryption [2].

I'm genuinely curious if ProtonMail has similar functionality on offer, especially since it appears to be free.

I find it interesting (and a bit disappointing) that while github.com gets an A, a static page I host on github pages received an F. Would be great if Github would help pages hosted there be more secure by default.

This brought to mind the book "The Field Guide to Understanding 'Human Error'" by Sidney Dekker [0]. It touches on how there is usually a more nuanced and complex explanation behind incidents (such as plane crashes) than simply one person's mistake.

Interestingly, I only learned about proton gradients and the relation to the vents a few days ago - in the documentary series "Wonders of Life" [1]. As a non-biologist, I've been enjoying the show a lot. It's on Netflix (at least in the UK).
