Yes he is.

He also speaks his mind like every fat-mouthed, intelligent American from Franklin to Vidal did. So shut your trap and get on with life. lol.

You kids! His persona is often troll... however, his operandi is journalism. Remember that? You know, telling the ugly truth (as you saw it), without fear or hinder?

Seems to me there are more Reddit-type comments submitted lately. It is something I have been very conscious of, much stronger than a hunch or gut feeling. I'm curious as to why you tried to measure this - do you still suspect a drop in the mean quality of the HN clientele despite what the /classic page might suggest?

It looks incredible. I think Google are right to be concerned. Others should be too - take the mortgage example: it wouldn't be hard to integrate current deals on offer from mortgage providers.

One query I'd like to build is a TCO for a particular model of car based on running cost, service cost and the probability I will die in a crash which obviously limits my future earnings.

I'm not one to break house rules, but sometimes it is necessary. So why did my comment get down voted? Assuming it wasn't a slip of the click etc you have to conclude it was a deliberate decision by someone who didn't _like_ what I said. I don't know what it was in my comment that gave offence to you, guy, but fact #1 is you shouldn't be in charge of our water supply. QED. :)

The problem is the definition of 'healthier, happier humans'. Who gets to decide? Some people would be keen ensure 'healthier, happier humans' == compliant slaves.

OK, I've not read the article or any of the comments. My theory is, well, it all comes down to Game Theory. All things being equal, if you are nice, an arsehole or rich, if a guy/gal suspects you are _significantly_ smarter than they are, they will (un-)consciously believe you will soon find a 'better' partner and move on. So they don't invest in you => you don't get laid.

LittleSnitch is an app that will inform you when an outgoing conenction is being made from your Mac. Running this after launching a craked version of PS, for instance, should let you know if you've suddenly been recruited into a botnet.

Fascinating. However, don't think you are seeing the complete creation of an essay from its spark to completion. The first sentence appears (to me at least) considered and calculated. I'm sure much more thought has gone into the essay than the animation would suggest.

I suspect it is too late to 'fix' the system.

"People who were driving a school bus blindfolded (and crashed it) should never be given a new bus."

Unfortunately for us the bus driver is the gatekeeper to the garage and he decides who gets to drive.
