I live in Germany, and you are completely wrong. In my state the Greens have ruled for 15 years and the economic success was pretty good with the state having a higher GDP/capita than the rest of Germny and even the EU. They also managed to reduce the state's debt. Accomplished a myriad of other things, too.

What did you think flagging was for? (Genuine question)

Same as on other sites: Spam and/or bot, abuse and/or insults and other ad hominems and particularly the point in the guidelines where you go: Please don't use Hacker News for political or ideological battle. It tramples curiosity. and Off-Topic: Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, or celebrities, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic.

Not that my flagging amounts to anything, there's so much domestic US politics articles from mainstream media on here that I often wonder whether I misunderstand the guidelines, but then, I'm just an Europoor /s

1. I will look into that.

A heads-up: the FSFE has already submitted a case for device neutrality regarding both, the ability to completely uninstall AI features and the unlimited interoperability decoupled from ADV: https://fsfe.org/news/2026/news-20260615-01.en.html

“Interoperability must be decoupled from developer verification procedures. We need clear, precise, and inclusive rules to prevent circumvention by gatekeepers and to ensure that interoperability becomes a concrete reality in practice” states Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager

There is incorrect information on wikipedia.

Wikipedia has an article titled “Yahweh.” Now, as I am a Christian,[8] "Yahweh" is the name of my God.[0]

This is one of Sanger's proposed changes and this is not an undisputed fact, more like a dispute among theologicans [1] and with the confidence he wants this change implemented, I am highly sceptical, that misinformation will decrease.

Yes, it is. There are other sources that trace the evolution of age-verification, with Meta quitting all lobbying groups that advertise against it and forming new ones with Spotify and Match Group as well as actively financing Digital Childhood Alliance. Meta wants the verification to happen on a non-app level (read Playstores or eveb OS level) to avoid all cost and liability: https://techoversight.org/2025/07/29/bloomberg-meta-google-l...

This one-size fits all approach is built to solve problems social media platforms have with their systems while making our members, small tech companies and app developers, collateral damage,” said App Association spokesperson Jack Fleming.

Since 2018 ~400 chinese EV producers were allowed to stop operations. An industry that exists because of subsidies and preferential loans as well as state induced trade barriers is not sustainable.

From 2020 onwards, the Chinese government began phasing out its EV subsidy program. This policy shift came just as the country entered a price war, led by aggressive pricing from giants like BYD and Tesla. The combination of reduced state support and brutal price competition proved fatal for many underfunded startups.

This should apply to politics and industry as well then, in your opinion? Cut all subsidies for industries that commit fraud, research or otherwise, like the oil giants for example? No pardons for cryptocurrency Ceo's like CZ and shutdown cryptocurrency?
