You didn't ask me this question, but I work in Ruby, and off the top of my head, have no complaints about Bundler. Switching Ruby versions between projects is not something that is handled natively in any way (unsurprisingly?) and I know that I've struggled a lot with `rvm`, but since switching to *env (rbenv, pyenv, nodenv) I can safely say I do not have any struggles on that front either.

Yeah, as someone who focuses primarily on back-end but occasionally finds the need to dive into front-end, esbuild has virtually eliminated the pain I had with front-end bundling/packaging when I was using Webpack. At least it has in my situation, which involves mostly standard needs and very little customization.

This is a great feature but it's a huge double-edged sword. I need to remember to turn it off when I'm expecting a call from an unpredictable number, and then I need to remember to turn it back on again after I receive the call. It would be great if I could turn it off for some number of hours or days.

I've always been interested in photography but really got into the weeds over the pandemic. Learning the exposure triangle (how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO are related/not related) has completely transformed how I think about cameras and taking photos. There is definitely some inherent mathematical/practical beauty in the meaning and relationships between these different camera settings.

I wouldn't want this comment to be interpreted as "shooting in manual is superior", in fact I would suggest against it in almost all cases - the deeper understanding will help you use nearly any camera in existence.

They do but it's really large. The Tech Report did an endurance test on SSDs 5-6 years ago [0]. The tests took 18 months before all 6 SSDs were dead.

Generally you're looking at hundreds of terabytes, if not more than a petabyte in total write capacity before the drive is unusable.

This is for older drives (~6 years old as I said), and I don't know enough about storage technology and where it's come since then to say, but I imagine things probably have not gotten worse.

Actually, as of Ruby 3, webrick is no longer a "bundled gem". You'll need to add it to your Gemfile and install it in order to use it.

The overview video touches on how some components of the Hey app are aggressively cached, like menu popups and such - so I imagine your "offline" capability comes from the fact that anything you need to run the application offline is just cached from the last online use.

Assuming this thing is made from scratch and not somehow using molds from existing products, that's pretty typical for a low-volume custom keyboard, especially after "switches" and keycaps are included.
