It's rare to see a study that follows people for more than 35 years. Its simple finding: five healthy habits, consistently followed over time, can make a remarkable difference to long-term health.

I was looking for the same information, but I didn't immediately find it. The author started a second, similar business with a more complicated workflow:

Put linux mint on it. You’ll be amazed how well it runs.
I participated 1-2 years ago in a few sessions on usechance.com, which has some parallels with your idea. Except, it focuses on networking. Maybe this helps.
You will probably get more interaction if you post this on reddit. If you find a quality subreddit of course.
The link above only points to one comment of the post (which I found amusing). The other reddit replies and responses of the OP are quite interesting. I wonder what the HN crowd will make of it...

I wish there was a way to open an MS Office file on my Linux Mint laptop with the real Word or Excel—no emulators that barely work, or office365 and no sluggish Windows VMs. Just a smooth, native experience.
In my previous company, we created a ‘new hire onboarding’ checklist. A new hire got one senior team member assigned as his/her mentor. The new hire could add/change notes if something was outdated.
Ha, I always rely on the submit button to redirect me to the entry in case the URL was already posted earlier. But for each CVE the URL is different, which is the whole point of course.
Thanks for pointing this out.

Sell your 20% in cash and get out. You'll have the money in the bank and ready to start something new. There are tons of technical founders looking for someone who has grown from 0 to $6M in a year. (which is huge). If you stay, you'll have a few years of misery.
This is related to the message [1] going viral claiming that Google is to shut down the Gmail email service on August 1 — part of the setup of course.

Also interesting are the choices of other countries and cultures
- coup ("popular" in Africa)
- japa
- vishwaguru
- lan wei lou (my favorite)
I recall a study with a setup similar to what's described in this article, but with an important change. In the experiment, when the equipment predicted a subject's choice to push button 'A', they ingeniously manipulated the outcome (perhaps through some neural stimulation?) causing the subject to choose button 'B' instead.
What's fascinating is how participants consistently rationalized their choices as products of their own free will, despite the external influence. This suggests that our conscious mind might often act as a 'spokesperson', justifying actions initiated by our subconscious.
Can anyone remember this and perhaps post a link to that study?
I am on JumpStartPro and quite happy about it. It has all the common gems already included and ready to configure. It also has a lot of excellent code that shows me how to do things.
Switch to async meetings like gitlab [1] does.

I don't understand why the majority of people are comfortable being part of the Google product and getting served search results that bring Google the most profit. Configuring the Kagi lenses [1] and personalized results [2] features makes the search results so much more useful that I couldn't live without them anymore.
When I'm looking into a specific topic, learning new features, or troubleshooting an issue, I put the results that Kagi provides in a separate window. I then work through this as a reliable to-do list for further investigation.

This one is a bit different, but great as well https://www.literaryclock.com/
Give it a minute or so to see what happens...
Thank you! Very helpful.
That's interesting. Do you have an idea at what price offering a sponsored free search engine would become profitable? $15 per year seems very low and I would be happy to pay considerably more than that.
Here's an idea for OpenAI: please offer a paid subscription for ChatGPT and consider us your customers, and not as the "product" like Google does. As long as Google's real users are the advertisers, they will inevitably be worse than anyone who puts the quality of the search result as their product's primary objective.
I did some searching via [1] and it turns out amplenote comes closest to my requirements list.
These are mostly negative reviews of Evernote. Yet, I do like the product and I am yet to find a replacement that offers these must-haves:
* Multiple tags per note
* OCR/search on attachments
* Web clipping (full page and individual sections)
* Mail to Evernote (with attachments)
* Decent WYSIWYG
* Good scanning support ("scannable" app)
It did have its problems and did lose 3 or 4 notes due to syncing issues but today's web version is usable and the product seems stable now. I agree that the acquisition is probably not good news. So, if anyone knows of a replacement with these features, pls reply!
I would like to follow the HN crowd, but I have no idea if and where they are on mastodon...
You can say you prefer tea, but when people notice you don't want any alcohol, they get upset and want to know what's wrong with me. Which is surprising because it's basically poison.
Great story and best of luck with your launch. Are you part of any online communities to share your progress? I am currently a member of MicroConf [1] and getting a lot of help from it.

May I suggest the book "This Naked Mind" by Annie Grace? I learned about it here on HN [1]. I have no alcohol issues, but there are some eye-opening ideas in that book that should appeal to everyone (unless you already are on zero alcohol)
"Alcohol is the only drug on earth you have to justify not taking."
Of course, cycling involves greater costs and danger.
Very true. I considered that too. My solution:
- bought a secondhand citybike iso race bike - always helmet & reflective vest - longer but safer route alternative
Very interesting link. Thanks!
