One addition that may be worth adding is being able to create a swatch based on colours selected.

I recently purchased some Crayola Window Crayons, if something pops into my head I will take a crayon and write it on my mirror, luckily my wardrobes have large mirros on them so got a lot of space to write with. I then leave it up there for a while, where I will always glance at it, then work it slowly out in my head, either remove it completely or add to the idea.

I work full time for another company (got to have income from somewhere) and whilst I work my other interests I figured the office would be a good idea.

I have so many projects in my head and my time seems to get occupied so easily with stupid things (youtube, hackernews :) ) that some office space seemed like the easiest way to stop that.

As I mentioned its more of a personal choice I would imagine, trying to see if I have considered all the factors or anyone has any cheaper alternatives.

I am amazed at how may people are saying they grew up with no pavements (sidewalks), is it because they found no need for them as the location was too remote for anyone to walk to anywhere they may need to go or that they thought no one bothered to walk so why spend money laying down something that no one will use?

I take "walks", however not in the sense of the article. I find that a walk before work is great and on your lunch if you have had a crappy morning. However I walk with a purpose, I think about thinks I see, get my brain interested in stuff I wouldn't usually think about. It gives inspiration and helps figure out problems that otherwise seemed impossible to overcome.

I don't get why they don't build private schools, with accommodation, like a student halls and then allow people to go there and learn the skills the government needs. It would create jobs and would allow the government to keep a much closer overview of how the money is spent. It would also allow you to fast track their learning as they would be surrounded by it 24/7.

Or make it so you can pay a fee to go there for a year or so if you want, without prior qualifications.

my only regret is not having the guts to take the plunge and really dive into an idea and see it through from conception to reality. The internet taunts me everyday with news of successful startups and even ones that failed, I failed to even achieve this.

A dude - you summed my self up perfectly too. I have been on anti-depressants before and they didn't help too much, however the thing with anti-depressants is you cant compare two days side by side, 1 on meds and the other not, they just dont work like that. You have to be on them for a month before they start to work and once you stop they stay in your system for a couple of months.

I always hated anti-depressants and was one of those naive people who say its all in your head, and to an extent it mostly is. The problem is that if its in your head how do you change your way of thinking.

Personally I get pre-occupied with the thought of failure rather than success, and when you constantly think you will fail at something you immediately put you self on the back foot regardless of what you want to do.

I realised this a long time ago, I purchased an Open Razor (still learning that one) and a Merkur Safety Razor. I use Feather Blades which are very sharp and require a little more skill to use, however they run about £5 for 10, Mach 3 run around £10 for 8, its not hard maths :)

A good shave also looks after your skin, and using a badger brush with a good glycerine based shaving cream with good pre-shave and post-shave routine makes all the difference.

Ive been a fan of www.kayako.com for some time, its got lots of features and is relatively inexpensive.

For a new product what I would like to see: Easy Template System Simple Back-end 1 Click Install (simple to wordpress) Live Messaging

1 area that I do not feel has been explored or taken advantage of is desktop software. I tried a while ago to create a desktop app that would sit in the system tray, receiving status updates and messages from a central system.

It would allow customers to stay up to date with system status without visiting a website and it could be used to notify of support replies, which should then reduce the "I didnt get a reply" issue.

#2 is something that I am already in the process of setting up. I am going to leave my main card at home, and then setup standing orders to transfer my pocket money into my new account every week. This seems like the most logical way to reign in unnecessary spending.

The other practice I want to get in the habit of is telling my self that I can only spend money if I have earned it from doing extra work, be it web design, cutting a hedge etc. That should motivate me to get out and about to earn extra on the side.

Its going to be very tough thats for sure, then again some of the happiest times of my life have been when ive been broke.

I started doing this a while ago. I have some keys to access a building which needs a security code to disable the alarm, so I wouldnt forget it I wrote it on the key tag mixed in with a series of other numbers.

Alternativly I use KeePass to store all my passwords and for the master password I combined all the passwords Ive used over the years, so its about 15 characters long and easy to remember.

For my own business project I aim to keep it manageable, this is easier when on your own as you have the luxury of picking your customers from those that are interested in your services. I have always been of the mind that if I can make enough money to live comfortably without disliking what I am doing then I will be happy. By making sure I don't have any "troublesome" customers and being proactive to move them to other providers I feel that I will be offering them a better service whilst maintaining my sanity and allowing me to support all of my other customers.

Its like a teacher who removes a loud student for the benefit of the others.

tread carefully, if that all seperates you from a competitor is "the" you could find your self in a not so fun situation.

When it comes to domains it is very hard to find a suitable one that has not already been taken, as someone who has been in the domain industry for several years I would say:

Keep the domain as simple as possible Try to avoid words that are hard to spell Try to avoid words that can be spelt different ways "Right" "Write" etc.

Those should be taken with a pinch of salt as its just not that simple, however when I come across domains just as "yachtrendezvoustahiti.com" you have to wonder if something simpler could have been found.

I would have loved to have done this when I planned to make my own game (purchased the graphics engine and tools), I just didnt have the right mind to get my head around the code base so quickly gave up. Its great something like this is being done.

hit the nail on the head there mate, very accurate and whilst not all applicable some are and I have thought of the processes for them.

The automate everything is tricky, I would like to offer this, but it also steers me away from the client a little as a package could get setup and they have not spoken to me about their needs. Automations with package setup all so leaves you open to abuse which incurs more cost.

Softlayers panel is pretty cool, a little outside what I want to do but inspiring all the same.
