No, the song is not ironic. Alanis didn't know what the word ironic actually meant, and thought she did. That's just idiocy or ignorance, not irony.

To call a group of our fellow humans "a sort of new species" - as the author does - is offensive, no matter who the target. That legitimately offends my sensibilities, as I consider myself to fall under the same umbrella as North Koreans - that of humanity at large. As you stated yourself, these people are physically different from others due to a lifetime of malnutrition, NOT a genetic evolution, which would be necessary for a new species to emerge. Also, using the term "dwarf", which is a colloquial term for a medical disorder, is simply inaccurate, and hints at the superiority bias of this author. The rest of the piece follows a similar tone, and to me does no good in bringing us to a more civil position with North Korea.

For all the fanfare of iPhone's pinch-to-zoom, just give me a button for zoom. Shoot. Honestly the iPhone could use a few buttons to make some of these actions easier, especially when holding the phone in one hand (pinch-to-zoom and pinch-to-zoom-out are definitely NOT trivial manuevers to pull off with just one hand). The Droid looks like it has four buttons on the face, let alone the plethora of buttons on the slide-out keyboard. So long as you can press a button for these actions, or at least program a button for these actions, I'm perfectly happy.

Panera as a whole is great but their food is way too salty for my taste. That usually implies that the food itself is of lesser quality.

I think Google is targeting people like you (who don't want to deal with sys admin issues) with their Google App Engine offering.
