This post ends with a beautiful poem set in Frans Sans

OUTSIDE MY LIFE, INSIDE THE DREAM.

FALLING UP THE STAIRS, INTO THE STREET.

LET THE CABLE CAR CARRY ME.

STRAIGHT OUT OF TOWN, INTO THE SEA.

PAST THE DAHLIAS AND THE SELF-DRIVING CARS.

THE CHURCH OF 8 WHEELS. THE LOWER HAIGHT BARS.

THE PEAK HOUR SPRAWL. THE KIDS IN THE PARK.

THE SLANTING HOUSES. THE BAY AFTER DARK.

MY WINDOW, MY OWN SILVER SCREEN.

I FOLLOW WHERE THE FOG TAKES ME.

By MADDY CARRUCAN

IMO they win just by making me (and you) think of it in this way. I don't think they are looking at it from a political leadership perspective, but rather from a cultural/research angle. As a father of 3 teenagers I find their take very convincing. And off course before the kids my views on many issues were much more liberal

I tried to send you an email to jobs.europe@omniata.com, but this address doesn't work - "We're writing to let you know that the group you tried to contact (jobs.europe) may not exist, or you may not have permission to post messages to the group"

I had a burnout once and continued to work for 6 months afterwards to maximize my unvested options.

The options turned out to be worth a lot, by I couldn't enjoy work for 3 years, so I am not sure continuing to work was a good decision.

In my case the reason for a burnout was personal (relations with my boss) and I suspect that the reason is always personal.

I would distill it to 2 advices: ask yourself the 5 whys about the burnout and don't continue working in this state.

I always use vim and my setup won't allow non-cli editor.

I will typically open multiple ssh sessions to a remote machine and edit/test the code there from the different sessions.

As the saying goes, "I do it in production" ;)
