Amazon gets singled out because they are one of the largest, most powerful companies in the history of mankind, by almost any measure: market cap, revenue, employees, etc.

UPS is not.

Amazon wields immense power over multiple industries, and they are scrutinized as such.

If this device was truly selling well or exceeding Facebook's expectations, they'd be yelling it from the PR department constantly. That one 10X data point they mentioned has zero context and is unsubstantiated enough to be ignored entirely.

On 1, I don't think it's a contradiction. It's opt-in by default, and to actually find the setting to opt-in, it's buried deep in the Play Services settings. That's how I read it.
