the author explains buying put options , not short selling. in shortselling you borrow shares and sell them , with the promise to give the shares back to the original owner in a later date (so shortsellers hope to buy back the shares later at a lower value)

We are running https://formlets.com, wishing them the best, i can tell one thing from experience, we have a free offering too, 100% free is not sustainable, you will need payed accounts to get a sustainable business, within weeks to months (depending on the popularity) the phishing people will find your service and you will need a full time person to track them and remove the forms or your reputation will be toast. Its a brutal market to be in.

It looked like a city cab, yellow and black and was front in the line of all city cabs waiting in Ezeiza. Looking back at it it was a Peugeot that was too old to be running every day. It had the back seat door handles and window levers removed, something you only see when you are already in the car. In the end i was happy that he let me go. It cost me 200 USD ... it could have been worse.

As a European I lived in Argentina for a year. At one point I took an official looking city cab at the airport and quickly realised that the driver had other intentions than getting me to my apartment. He dropped me off in another part of town after emptying all my pockets, keeping my luggage as ransom. It does not need to be a complex kidnapping for you to feel unsafe.

I know that Node.js is the hype but the site was developed by consultants and has plenty of bugs in there that needs solving .. I thought with my JS knowledge that it would be easy to evolve but the reality is different, it is one big mess of dependencies that is difficult to debug if you did not make it yourself ...

You will see that PHP (LAMP)projects are easier to sell than projects in more exotic stacks

I prefer to have all my projects in the same language -> PHP and i all move them to Google APP engine to keep maintenance to the lowest levels

It has nothing to do with performance i prefer to build on technology that I master

I find the sites on the services mentioned in the article, Sideprojects and Flippa

I do due Diligence myself , I have a good technical background and a good digital marketing background.

My experience :

I bought a number of smaller projects that serve as traffic generators to bigger projects, typical freemium services that provide me regular signups on a daily basis. You can make the calc: pay a few thousands for years of free referrals.

I bought a bigger project 10K+ and that has technical issues that need to be resolved (will migrate from Node.js to PHP) but i have an existing customer base that helps understand the problem you try to fix. I am rebuilding the solution but in the same time i can experiment with pricing and traffic generation on the service i bought.. it is a de-risking strategy.

The reason why people sold in general because they don't have the marketing budgets to carry the project when its initial launch spike runs out.

EDIT : I typically pay 5x recurring revenu max or max 1K to 2K for non revenue generating sites that have interesting traffic of an audience I target Edit 2: I want to build a recurring revenue stream to supplement my consulting business

I bought a number of side projects, its a nice way to get a validation of the market. I always like to see a number of paying customers even if it is just a few.

Maybe this transition comes too soon but moving from coding in to management is a normal progression. It is another job , but in general it values the same qualities you should have as a coder: Understanding the dynamics of the situation and finding the best solution to get the job done. As CTO you should have the flexibility to find other people to help in the things you hate the most and focus on the fun parts.

I think a lot of people don't realise there was an internet before the www , i remember using gopher to access the digital city of amsterdam back in my student years ...

I would find an arrangement that allows both of you the best of options to digest the situation an go on with your life. For the moment i would take the assumption the project is a failure and don't count on "hopes on continuing" . when everything is settled you can re-look at the pieces and see what is salvageable but for now the biggest problem seems to be the loan of $10K. Even if you both would be able to walk away , you both are responsible for paying back the loan. Even if your co-founder is not your friend anymore, try to fix that situation. Sell assets , do some contracting work and try to end up with a 0$ debt situation. The world is a small place , don't make casualties, only blame yourself and take with you everything you learned from this job and apply it in the future. This failure will be a useful lesson.

Meet Model X 11 years ago

I thought SUV's had larger rims than standard cars, they look the same as the model S , Any information available?

When I lived in Argentina we would call Sushi restaurants "Salmon shops" as they would never serve Tuna, it would be 95% salmon and some minute pieces of white fish.

It looked like the exhaust fumes changed patern and than everything desintegrated ... maybe it autodistructed ... it did not look like it changed direction or anything before the explosion
